Les Williams Diversity Award


The Diversity Award recognizes an individual or organization who has demonstrated a meaningful and consistent commitment to increasing and maintaining diversity in San Mateo County at all levels of the legal profession. 

And the 2023 Les Williams Diversity Award winner is...

Peter F. Goldscheider


This year's winner of the Diversity Award is Peter F. Goldscheider. Peter is a graduate of Stanford Law School ('72) and has been practicing law since December of 1972.He has been a member of the Private Defender Program in San Mateo County since 1973 and a former chair of the PDP committee as well. He is a Certified Specialist in Criminal Law and has been recognized by The State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization as so since 1981. He has dedicated his entire career to making a difference and has served the community in various capacities. He was the president of the San Mateo County Bar Association in 2018 and named a Super Lawyer of Northern California every year since 2007 by Law and Politics Magazine and San Francisco Magazine. He was also the chair of the SMCBA Client Relations Committee from 2011-2012. He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, California Attorneys for Criminal Justice, and California Public Defenders Association. Peter is currently the Co-Chair of the Race & Social Justice Committee. Join us in congratulating Mr. Goldscheider on this award!

Nancy de Ita Scholarship Winners

The Nancy de Ita Scholarship is given to an incoming/current law student, or recent graduate who has not passed the bar exam to encourage and support their commitment to the legal profession and diversify our community.

Sally Chung


Sally Chung is a 1L at the UC Berkeley School of Law where she is a member of the International Law Journal, Asian Pacific American Law Student Association, and International Refugee Assistance Project. After graduating, she would like to represent victims and survivors of civil and cross-national conflicts and contribute to truth commissions and reconciliation efforts.

Fabiola Garcia


Fabiola Pardo Garcia is a 2L at the University of San Francisco School of Law. Fabiola currently serves on Law Review, is a civil procedure tutor, and is closely involved with the Latinx Law Student Association ("LLSA") and the Middle Eastern and North African Law Student Association ("MENALSA") at USF Law. She seeks to pursue a legal career in the public sector and hopes to serve underrepresented communities with a similar immigrant background as hers.

Alejandra Zamora


Alejandra Zamora Hernandez is a 1L at Berkeley Law where she is a member of La Alianza Workers' Rights Clinic, the Women in Business Law Emerging Leaders Program, and the Women of Color Collective. She grew up in a low-income, immigrant community and will become an attorney to serve her community.
