Beginning in mid-June, we are making a change to the 1601 and 1603 barrier gate operators. The 90° rotation speed is being reduced from 1.5 seconds to approximately 2.5 seconds.
The change is being implemented primarily to reduce the impact force of the arm on an object during the up or down cycle. The slightly slower speed reduces the impact force by more than half. Additionally, the slower speed also reduces stress on the arm and mechanical linkages in the operator, reducing maintenance.
To achieve the slower speed, the drive pulley has been increased from four-inch diameter to five-inch diameter, and the drive belt has been increased from 26-inch to 27-inch. There was also a change made to internal mounting brackets to accommodate the larger pulley. Because of these changes, new part numbers have been assigned to the 1601 and 1603 products as follows:
