Carl Tannenbaum

Chief Economist

Northern Trust

 

Carl Tannenbaum is the Chief Economist for Northern Trust. In this role, he briefs clients and colleagues on the economy and business conditions, prepares the bank's official economic outlook and participates in forecast surveys. He is a member of Northern Trust's investment policy committee, its capital committee, and its asset/liability management committee. Carl publishes weekly commentaries and is frequently interviewed by media outlets including The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, the New York Times and Reuters.

 

Prior to joining Northern Trust, Carl spent four years leading the Federal Reserve's risk section. He was deeply involved in the central bank's response to the 2008 financial crisis, helped to create and conduct its stress testing program, and advised senior Federal Reserve leaders on developments in banking and the financial markets.

Eric is the Managing Director & Chief Economist for RBC Global Asset Management Inc. (RBC GAM). He maintains the firm's global economic forecast and advises its portfolio managers on key themes and risks. Eric is also a member of the RBC Investment Strategy Committee, which is responsible for the firm's global asset mix recommendations.

 

Eric makes regular presentations both within and outside of RBC GAM. He is also a frequent media commentator on global economic and financial trends, appearing regularly on CNBC, BNN and other networks. Eric's written editorials have appeared in The Globe and Mail, National Post, The Wall Street Journal and Financial Times.
