De
ar Resident and Neighbor,
Mayor Lori Lightfoot and the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH), has recently announced the “Protecting Chicago” framework that will guide the city's reopening process amid COVID-19.
The framework lays out how the city is thinking a
bout reopening, and the details for each phase are being informed by economic and health data.
Additionally, I am pleased to share that over the next few weeks the City of Chicago will open six new testing sites, all of which will serve black and brown neighborhoods. This is part of an effort to expand testing to communities disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The six locations are:
- Gately Park, Pullman
- Guaranteed Rate Field, Bridgeport
- Maria Saucedo Scholastic Academy, Little Village
- Dr. Jorge Prieto Math and Science Academy, Belmont Cragin
- Kennedy-King College, Englewood
- Senka Park, Gage Park
The testing location in the parking lot of Guaranteed Rate Field will be drive-thru only and will specifically serve asymptomatic first responders, health care professionals and other essential workers in Chicago. All other testing sites will have the option of a walk-up visit.
These are challenging times, but there are ways in which we can do simple things to help one another. Try to check-in on your neighbors, give a friendly wave from a distance, look out for one another. Remember, this is new for all of us, but we will get through this together.
Very truly yours,
Stephanie D. Coleman
