Education Through Music-LA is entering its 17th Year of programming with the start of the 2022-23 school year! Thanks to donors like you, over 120,000 students have received music education over the last 17 years. Now that's music to our ears.

To kick off the school year, ETM-LA is launching the 17K For 17 Years Back-to-School Campaign. Help sponsor:

  • $60 - provides choral sheet music for 25 students
  • $75 - provides a student with an entire semester of music education
  • $150 - provides a student with an entire year of music education (and you will be included in the Schools Symphony Circle)
Funds raised from the 17K For 17 Years campaign will help provide high quality sequential, comprehensive music education for thousands of students. Make your contribution by 9/30 to be listed as a sponsor.

With diminished classroom budgets and high inflation, many music teachers and educators alike find themselves stretching the dollar in order to set-up and prep classrooms. ETM-LA's schools across LA County, typically located in marginalized communities, continue to face budget challenges to meet each classroom's needs for new equipment and materials.

Back-to-School With ETM-LA
ETM-LA Director of Programs Deidre Racoma shares, “As a parent myself, I struggled as to whether or not I could give enough support and guidance to my children while also being understanding to their teachers who were working tirelessly to pivot to a new type of teaching.”

Racoma helps welcome in the new school year in this blog post. With hope for our 17th year of programming, we are excited to get music started in our classrooms!

Not only does going back to school require meeting basic physical needs and safe classrooms, but preparing children socially and emotionally. To help prepare parents and guardians, here is an article that supports parents and guardians as children go back to school and the music classroom.

"My name is Vzya Toledo (pictured left), I am 22 years old and grew up in the San Fernando Valley. I have learned a lot of different things from all of my music teachers growing up. I strongly believe music education is important for every student's curriculum, which is why I hope to teach music someday."
Thank you to the Los Angeles County Department of Arts & Culture for your generous sponsorship!
