"A Place at the Table" along with former Supervisor Sophie Maxwell (3R) supports the Arts with guests at the June 2019 San Francisco Black Film Festival Screening at the AAACC. The film about unsung Black pioneers in Silicon Valley was a crowd favorite. Community leaders such as Carol Tatum, then President of San Francisco Business and Professional Women, Inc. and Dr. Maxine Hickman, President of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women and National Board Member of NCBW, Inc. supported the San Francisco Black Film Festival. NCBW SF gave five women work experience via its partnership between its NCBW SF Doris Ward Workforce Development Employment and Training Program and the San Francisco Black Film Festival. It was the second year of the partnership, utilizing the festival for training with paid stipends provided by NCBW SF.
