Greetings!
T orrential rainfall sweeping in on Australia last week continue to bring evacuations from major flooding, damaging winds and dangerous surf. BUT - the rains have contained, for the first time, the horrendous bushfires in New South Wales that left at least 28 people dead, more than 3,000 homes destroyed and up to 1 billion animals affected.
WIRES Rescue is doing all it can to assist surviving animals who endured starvation from the drought before their enormous loss of habit from fires and now, floods.
Every potholder sold in this special benefit
will send it's full $50 purchase price to WIRES.
There are 2,600 vets attached to 28 branches of the NSW wildlife rescue group WIRES - let's pool our resources and send them some help!

Our Fabulous Fabric Artist, SUSAN LEWIS, has offered to contribute all the potholders she could create for endangered Australian wildlife IF we could offer them on the NCG website and cover all fees so that 100% of each $50 purchase would go directly to WIRES to help rescue and recuperate animals from Australia's horrific bushfires.
MARY LAHAM , our Canadian friend and greyhound enthusiast, shopped for the batiks Susan prefers and shipped more than twenty yards of fabric to Susan just for this endeavor. At the same time, Susan’s local Humboldt County friend, JEAN STACK , purchased $200 worth of unique Australian fabrics to contribute! AND another HUGE box of designer fabrics is now on the way to Susan from SUSIE MCQUADE and her friends at GALT !<p>
Researchers fear more than  1 billion animals  were killed in the wildfires. This week, Australia released a  provisional list  of more than
100 animal species that require "urgent management intervention."

Prefer to contribute to WIRES directly? Here's how!

if you have a Memorial Heart of your own, you will appreciate the rich artistic history which accompanies its loving sentiment.

.
We are saddened to report the closure of Fire and Light, makers of our Memorial Hearts and the pride of Arcata California.

We have managed to secure most of the hearts remaining: all Aqua and Pink- fitting colors. Other colors may be ordered as long as our stock remains available.

We're greytful to be able to continue our memorial Heart Program with these hand poured, hand signed, recycled glass keepsakes..
