We want to inform you of a recent rash of criminal incidents that have occurred in our community. Three separate incidents occurred during the past few days in the RANCH Triangle area, a mugging in the 1900 block of Bissell, just before noon on Saturday,
a daytime mugging at Dayton and Willow, and a stabbing that left a 15 year old boy in critical condition in the 1600 block of Bissell around 1 a.m. on Monday. Thanks to quick action by neighborhood residents in calling 911, three suspects are in custody and charges are pending.
Our 18th District Commander, Jill Stevens and I have been in communication as the Chicago Police have formulated their response. Commander Stevens has already ordered local beat cars to remain in their beats at all times. Tactical (unmarked) units have been dispatched and will saturate the area and our local CTA stops. Detectives continue to canvas the neighborhood and retrieve video footage. Be assured that there will be visible increased police presence in our neighborhood.
To show our neighborhood solidarity against crime, the 18th District asks that we join them TOMORROW at 5:30 p.m. for a roll call with Commander Stevens and a neighborhood "loitering event" at the North and Clybourn stop. Bring your dog and family as we walk through the neighborhood together for 30-45 minutes.
