2021 Section 1AA Track & Field Championship
Congratulations to the following Lakeville North Track & Field athletes who placed at the 2021 Section 1AA Championship Meet Saturday, June 12. These athletes are moving on to the 2021 MSHSL Track & Field State Tournament next weekend!

Summer Scholars Career Exploration
A new program called Summer Scholar Career Exploration is helping high school students who struggled during the school year recover credits. At the same time the students are learning about career and college opportunities. The program is taking place at Dakota County Technical College, which is partnering with Lakeville North and South High Schools, Lakeville Area Learning Center, Rosemount High School and local businesses. Students spend time on English Credit Recovery and have hands on lessons on career pathways like architecture, industrial engineering, nursing and more.

Summer Learning Activities for Home
Keeping your iPad this Summer?

The District has put together some apps and websites you can use on your district-issued iPads to help keep you learning during the summer. Visit our Summer Digital Learning webpage to find documents for different grade levels to see the educational apps you have access to. Download them from Self Service on your iPad.
Summer Meals Availability in the Lakeville Area
Families with students in the Lakeville Area have several options for meals this summer throughout the area. The Open Door will provide meals in Lakeville and Burnsville. The district is also partnering with District 191 and District 196 for additional curbside meal pickups. Additionally, state and other local agencies are providing meal and grocery support.

Buses will remain at each location for around 15-20 minutes before moving to the next location.

Mental, Chemical and Behavioral Health Support for Students
If your child is in need of mental or chemical health services over the summer, contact local community providers to access care. Join the Early Childhood Family Education Advisory Council at Lakeville Area Schools! The council is made up of parents and guardians who work with ECFE staff to improve and give back to ECFE programs. Members set up fundraising events, fun events, and provide feedback to staff.

Lakeville Area School Board Candidate Filing Opens July 27
Looking to serve and support your school district? Become a candidate for the Lakeville Area Schools Board of Education. 
Residents interested in joining the Lakeville Area Schools Board of Education are invited to submit an affidavit of candidacy between July 27 and August 10.
School Board Candidate Requirements:

  • Eligible voter
  • At least 21 years old when the term begins 30 days after the election
  • Resident of Lakeville Area Schools District 194 within 30 days before the general election

June 15 School Board Work Session Recap

At the Board of Education Work Session on Tuesday, June 15, the Lakeville Area Board of Education:

  • Heard a preliminary budget presentation from Bill Holmgren, Executive Director of Business Services. The budget is set to be voted on at the June 22, 2021 regular board meeting.
  • Heard a facility use presentation from Devin Reyes, Facilities Use and Systems Manager. The board heard about facility procedural updates, facility use operating costs, and looked at a drafted Facility Use handbook. The board was also given some recommended policy changes to consider, including facility use application fee changes, facility user classification changes, and fee schedule changes.
  • Went into a closed session to discuss land purchase negotiations for the new elementary school approved by voters in the May 11, 2021 referendum election.
