For the past month a group of volunteers has been working on the iconic Spencer’s Shad Shack along Route 154. So far, they have removed overgrowth, faux roof, and deteriorated portions of the building.
Thank you to Rob Bradway and
Connecticut Valley Railroad
for removing a dead tree that hung over the building and a big shout out to John and James Carlson of
Pete’s Waste Removal of Haddam
for loaning a dumpster. Also thank you to Lorne Goralnik of
Lyon & Billard Lumber
of Berlin for donating plywood as well as
Rod Auclair and Jan Sweet.
If you are interested in helping out, they meet Saturday mornings from 9 to 12 noon. (NOT JULY 20 DUE TO EXCESSIVE HEAT)
Stay tuned for ongoing developments.
