The Bloomington-Normal Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (BNACVB) is proud to announce Melissa Chrisman as the new president and chief executive officer. A Bloomington native, Melissa brings over 20 years of experience in community relations and leadership to this vital role.
Melissa’s impressive career includes serving as vice president of marketing and communications at Trinity Metro in Fort Worth, Texas. Her expertise, combined with a deep connection to her hometown, makes her strongly suited to lead BNACVB into an exciting new chapter.
“It is an honor to be chosen as the president and CEO of the CVB,” Melissa shared. “Bloomington-Normal is a great place to be, and I’m eager to work with the board, the BNACVB team, and my hometown community to drive the growth of our visitor economy.” BNACVB board chair Beth Whisman, who led the national search, emphasized Melissa’s standout qualifications: Melissa’s love for the community, leadership expertise, and professional experience all stood out in the selection process,” said Whisman. “This is a great community organization, and we know Melissa will take it to the next level by building strong relationships and positioning Bloomington-Normal as THE central Illinois destination while fostering our quality of life and place for current residents.”
Melissa will officially assume her new role in February, succeeding interim executive director Marty Hickman. The BNACVB looks forward to this exciting new era of leadership and growth under Melissa’s guidance.
