Don't forget that if AMHS students need a hand with their studies, they can request help from an NHS peer tutor! The NHS Tutoring Request form is posted on the school website under students/National Honor Society. Or you can view here at this link.
**Please allow 3 to 5 days for AMHS NHS to respond to your tutoring request. We will try to make a pairing as quickly as possible, but submitting a request in advance gives us ample time to fulfill the request properly. For example, if you have a test on a Thursday, notify us by Monday or sooner that you would like to schedule a tutoring session. If you have a test on Monday, notify us by Wednesday of the previous week or sooner**

On January 11, 2026, seniors Julian Churchill ’26 and Suguri Yamaguchi ’26 were honored at a Scouting America Troop 519 Court of Honor for earning the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. Both began their scouting journeys as Cub Scouts in Mt. Pleasant Pack 11, Den 7, before joining Troop 519 on Daniel Island.
Julian earned his Eagle Scout rank in July after leading a project to refurbish six outdoor dog runs for one of the Charleston Animal Society’s off-site sanctuaries, as well as organizing a medical supply drive through Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital to benefit its clinic and veterinary summer camp. Suguri earned his rank in October after completing a project to repaint three apartment buildings in West Ashley through the collaboration with the City of Charleston’s Love Your Block program. Together, these projects accounted for more than 250 hours of community service performed by Troop 519 scouts and volunteers.
Over their more than 10 years in scouting, both were supported by many mentors, including Scoutmaster Mike Coulter ’23P. Their accomplishments reflect strong leadership, ethical conduct, and a commitment to service aligned with the AMHS mission.
