ree tax preparation services for individuals and families with a total household income at or below $55,000 in 2018 are available across Connecticut. The program is called VITA and stands for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance. Trained, IRS-certified volunteers at VITA sites throughout Connecticut can help those eligible file their taxes for free and secure valuable tax credits such as the Child Tax Credit, Child and Dependent Tax Credit and the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).
