Head's Note
Last Wednesday, Crossroads officially separated from our neighbors at the Village Condo Association, just south of our campus. This transition was a culmination of nearly eighteen months of efforts and will allow our school to combine the two properties on our campus and situate our new middle school building along the previous property line. Many people were involved in this work as well as with our permitting process with the Town of Lyme, but special thanks go to our President of the Board, David Kahn, parent and former trustee, David Hoffer, and most of all, trustee emeritus, Phil Harrison. With this important hurdle behind us, we are looking forward to sharing more news about our new middle school and the progress we are making in the months ahead.

Yours truly, Brad
Re-Enrollment Starts in Two Weeks!
Please mark your calendars for re-enrollment starting in two weeks. Contracts are expected to be released on February 26. There has been strong interest in admissions for next year. Some classes have limited space available for new students, so it will be very important to enroll by the deadline of March 13. Enrolling by the deadline will allow us to know what spaces are available for new students.

* Financial Aid recipients will receive contracts on March 25, and should enroll by the deadline of April 10.

Summer Programs
Greetings from the Crossroads Summer Program!
I am excited to announce that Crossroads Academy will be offering another engaging and fun-filled ten-week summer program. Beginning the week of June 15, there will be a series of one-week programs being offered for children ages 3-5, 6-9, and 9-13. Crossroads faculty and other experienced educators will offer a wide range of programs to discover new interests and deepen student learning. We will once again partner with The Montshire Museum of Science, AVA Gallery and Art Center, and the Upper Valley Music Center to host their programs on our campus. While there are already many offerings listed on our website, new listings will be added regularly over the next few months. Daily programs run from 9:00AM to 3:30PM, but early drop off is available beginning at 8:00 AM and a free after-care program is offered every day until 5:00 PM.

MathCounts Chapter Competition
Crossroads students participated in the competitive MathCounts Chapter meet held at Richmond Middle School on Saturday, February 8. Our team of Roxane, Gael, David, and Ethan earned second place and will advance to the NH State competition. Congratulations to all of our mathletes!
Metamorphoses at The Northern Stage
Metamorphoses: The following Crossroads students are performing in Metamorphoses at Northern Stage from February 7-16:  Thea, Eli, Hannah, and Isaac. Support your classmates, get tickets, and go to the show! Click here for more information.
Second Grade Pulley Systems and Animal Presentations
In the last few weeks, the second graders have been busy with many projects. We were lucky enough to capture some of them delivering their animal presentations, as well as working on their simple machine pulley projects.

Third Grade Eye Dissection
Third graders spent this morning learning about the inner workings of a cow's eyeball through dissection. Current third grade parent, Dr. Julianne Mann helped the students prepare for their operation by teaching them the importance of keeping things clean and safe. Then, parents and faculty volunteers assisted the students while Ms. Verheeck explained the function of each new discovery.

Third Grade Tea Party
To celebrate the end of reading Alice and Wonderland as a class, Ms. Verheeck and Ms. Marsha prepared a special tea party for the third graders last week!

Fourth Grade Ancient Africa Presentations
Fourth graders were assigned to choose a topic that interested them in their ancient Africa studies. Topics ranged from sports/games, trade, food, architecture, and important historical people. Students created models out of clay, designed exciting posters, and even delivered snacks for the class to enjoy!

Seventh Grade "Reduced Expectations" Campfire
To celebrate the completion of the "Reduced Expectations" projects the seventh graders delivered last week, the class gathered in the outdoor classroom for a Great Expectations-themed meal around the campfire. The class enjoyed sausages and even bites of Miss Havisham's old and decaying wedding cake!
Schools Should be Political, but Not Partisan
Crossroads Academy's mission statement includes the aspiration to inspire students to “contribute actively to intellectual, cultural, and civic life” and my colleagues and I take this goal very seriously.
