On Saturday, February 7th, Mu Alpha Theta competed at the 39th University of South Carolina High School Math Contest. The contest consists of an individual written exam as well as a separate written team exam. On the individual exam, three students--Berkay Sahin '28, Rebecca Xu '29, and Aaron Zhu '26--placed in the top 16 overall out of around 100 students and were awarded medals. The team also placed 3rd overall based on their score on the team exam and the top three students' individual scores and were awarded a trophy.
The team will compete again on Saturday, February 21st at College of Charleston and on Friday, February 27th at Coastal Carolina University. Congrats on your successes thus far, Mu Alpha Theta and Coach Frazier, and good luck on the next leg of your academic adventures!
| | Robotics Teams Are Three for Three (Tournaments) | | |
Kudos to our VEX Robotics Teams and Coach Lovering. The Robotics Teams competed this past weekend at the Bengal Bowl II at Blythewood High School, where team 40040M took home the Design Award. This makes them 3 for 3 at tournaments this year as they previously received the Excellence Award, immediately qualifying them for the state competition, and received the Innovate Award at Clemson University in January.
Magnet's second team (40040Z) has only been to two competitions this year (Clemson and Blythewood) and are steadily improving their skills and ranking. They are hoping to qualify for the state competition at Gregg Middle School in Summerville on February 21. Good luck!
