Message from President
 Bonnie Chapman

Greetings Soroptimists,

What's the medical diagnosis for owning too many dogs?
Roverdose!
So our Hilarity for Charity project is moving along nicely. This week I look forward to having many of you over to watch the Netflix streaming edition of the 2018 star-studded comedy show that was held in Los Angeles. If you can't make it on Thursday, you can always watch it on your own if you have Netflix.
Our committee has met once for the April event, our flier is out and about and we have more planning. It's exciting to see it come together. We are thrilled to have two great event sponsors, Passages and The Alzheimer's Association. We have 2 of three comedians booked and the last one is coming soon. I will share some preview videos on our members only Facebook soon.
It's another great week to be a Soroptimist!

With Gratitude,
Soroptimist International of Chico
President, 2018-2019
This Week's Program

Awards

Tomorrow the SI Objectives Committee will be presenting SI Chico's Live Your Dream Awards program. We will be presenting cash awards totaling $3,500 to three amazing women. This is a great program to bring any of your friends who may be interested in our club. This is the fun part, where we get to give away the money we have worked so hard to raise.

We will see you tomorrow at our Live Your Dream presentations!
Happy Dollars

We love sharing the joy at Club!! A reminder of the rules for Happy Dollars;

$1= personal story, piece of good news, praise for programs or others etc..

$5= any announcement for another organization or any business announcement

The great news, all of the Happy Dollar money goes toward internal operating expenses for our club.

Hooray SI Chico!!

2018-2020 Strategic Plan was introduced at the Winter District 1 & 2 Meeting on Feb. 2, 2019, see below:

February Member of the Month is Maureen Duquette

I was born in 1943, in England about 60 miles north-west of London. I had one brother, 10 years older than me. As a child, rationing was in place, and much of my country was severely damaged during the war. Recovery took a long time. My family eventually moved to Windsor. I went to a church run elementary school and later to Windsor Grammar School for Girls, an academically challenging school. I enjoyed reasonable academic success, sports and drama productions. I have good memories of my school life.

I Joined the British Army immediately after graduation, attending the Officer Cadet Training College for Women Officers. My branch of service was Womens Royal Army Corps, (WRAC). I served 11 years, retiring as a Captain. I lived in Germany and Malta on tours of duty, and visited many parts of the world during my various assignments.

I met Gary, my American husband in 1969 in Germany. We met up again in 1974 when I was vacationing in USA and married 3 weeks later! After obtaining legal status, I joined Wells Fargo's Management Training program and went on to enjoy a 27 year career as a bank officer, manager, retiring as Vice President.

We moved to Chico in 1981. Our only son, Matt is married to Heidi and has 2 young sons, they live in Chico. Sadly Gary died in 2008.

I am an Enloe Volunteer since 2005 and was a Soroptimist from 1994 until 2004, happily rejoining in Sep 2018.
