Spring is Around the Corner...

Dear Cornerstone Families,

A couple of days ago I was on a walk on the trails in Camas and got to witness a beautiful eagle flying around and it landed in a tree. A glorious and powerful bird to watch! Immediately I couldn’t help singing an old devotional song I learned in my childhood that comes straight from scripture. “Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not grow weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31

This time of year, I wait (sometimes impatiently) for the days to grow longer and the weather to be brighter. Just when the dreariness seems unbearable, we catch a glimpse of sunshine and are reminded to have Hope in the Lord!

This month our elementary students are focusing their character on compassion. We have the sweetest and kindest students here at Cornerstone. They are learning and growing academically, socially, and spiritually. They definitely run and don’t grow weary 😊…but the greatest beauty is the way they are learning to practice compassion and their faith as they serve each other with the strength they have in the Lord!

May this spirit of compassion and faith continue to flourish amongst our students and staff, bringing joy and light to our Cornerstone community. Thank you for entrusting us with the privilege of nurturing your children!

Vancouver & Battle Ground Campuses

We had a great response to our Open House at the Vancouver and Battle Ground campuses. God is growing Cornerstone! Enrollment is now open to everyone. Spread the news! Referral discounts are available to CCALL families who are listed by a new family on the application for enrollment form at the time of application submission. Referral discounts will be applied as a tuition reduction at the end of the 6th consecutive month in which the new family is enrolled and in good standing. Although limitations may apply relating to new families receiving tuition assistance or attending part-time, there is no limit on the number of families that may be referred and for which a referral discount may be received.

MY SCHOOL REWARDS

SHARE VANCOUVER FOOD DRIVE

February 12th - 22nd

This month we are supporting Share Vancouver through our My School Rewards program. My School Rewards partners with Share Vancouver each year with a Food Drive for their “Backpack” program. Cornerstone will once again be a part of delivering much needed food items for this great program.

Last year Cornerstone donated a total of 1,820 pounds of food! That's a lot of much needed food in backpacks for the Clark County school children in need! What a huge blessing! We also earned 100 points for every pound of food collected for the My School Rewards program! Let's see if we can top that this year and donate 2,000 lbs. (1 Ton!) or more! Drop off non-perishable canned food in your child's classroom at CCA starting February 12th until February 22nd. Check the flyer for items needed. Keep in mind that they pack food donated into backpacks to send home with students in need. No glass jars please!

CLASS COMPETITION - Vancouver Elementary, Battle Ground Elementary and Middle & High School. The class at both campuses with the most items brought in will receive a class treat and an extra recess. There is also a bin at the Vancouver Mall that donations can be dropped off. Unfortunately, those will not be counted in the class contest but stop by and check it out!

We are excited for our next fun lunch at the school from Chick-fil-A on Friday, February 23rd. Chick-fil-A has set up a special link for parents to order that will make it easier for everybody! (Please note VC & BG campus order links!!) You will order and pay online so it will not be taken out of your school lunch account. Please note, there is a limit of one order per transaction so if you have more than one student at Cornerstone you will need to place separate orders for each one. You will need to put in your child's name and grade per order.

Family Service Hours at CCA

Requirements

All families are required to serve 15 volunteer hours per semester at Cornerstone for a total of 30 hours for the school year. There are many ways to serve at CCA. Field trips, working in the classroom, campus events and other various projects, all go towards family service hours.

Families will be charged $15 for any unserved hour per semester. All volunteers must fill out a Background Check Authorization Form to volunteer on campus. Follow the link below to download and fill out for future volunteer opportunities.

Start saving your Vancouver Mall receipts dated September 1st and on! We need your receipts! Start shopping! Check out the My School Rewards page here to see all the stores that participate. The surrounding Chick-fil-A and 5 Guys is included! You can log receipts yourself here or drop your receipts off at either the Vancouver or Battle Ground Campus. Another way to turn in receipts is send a photo of the receipt with the name of the store, date and total amount spent clearly visible on the photo. Gift card purchases are also eligible! Hot Lunch Program

at Cornerstone

Our hot lunch program is once again offering "Pizza Tuesday"

and "Hot Dog Thursday" at both Cornerstone campuses this year. Student's will order on Monday for Pizza and Tuesday for Hot Dogs. Pizza is offered at $2 a slice and Hot Dog lunch (Hot dog, fruit, chips) at $3. Stop by the office or call, to put money on your "Family Lunch Account," if you would like your student to participate in the program. (Please let your child's teacher know if you do not want them to order). We will keep you updated on your family lunch balance

when it gets low.

Our hot lunch program is a fundraiser for our "8th Grade East Coast History Tour." The funds help offset costs and also provide student scholarships. We will need help for our Tuesday/Thursday lunch. This will be a great way to build your "Service" hours.
