PIE Sponsors 'Senior Day' Event at College of Charleston Basketball Game

Students and staff enjoyed a great College of Charleston basketball victory on Saturday as PIE sponsored this fun event to honor our seniors! Senior students and staff were treated to free tickets and a fabulous game. Other AMHS scholars joined in on the fun as well. Thanks to all who were there!

National Honor Society Students Offer Peer Mentoring

Does your student need help with time management and effective studying? You can now request peer help and mentorship in time management and workflow assistance through the National Honor Society at AMHS.

Don't forget that if AMHS students need a hand with their studies, they can request help from an NHS peer tutor! The NHS Tutoring Request form is posted on the school website under students/National Honor Society. Or you can view here at this link.

Does your scholar need to make an Override Request for next year's class schedule?

Please use this form to request a course override for the upcoming school year.  Override forms are requests to be CONSIDERED for placement in a class that is not offered or for which you do not currently qualify.


The LAST DAY to make override requests will be February 27, 2026.

AMHS Mu Alpha Theta Competes at Another Math Contest

Congrats to our Mu Alpha Theta! On Saturday, February 21st, Mu Alpha Theta competed at College of Charleston's Math Meet, which consists of an individual written exam and a number of individual and team competitions throughout the day. The team did fantastically and had the following team and individual wins:


Team Events:

3RD PLACE - Math Relay: Olivia Elko '26, Whitney Gwisc '27, Allison Wang '27, and Dora Wang '28


4TH PLACE - Written Exam Level 1 Team (Geometry and Algebra 1/2): Carter Owens '29, Tongran Xu '29, and Hannah McSwain '29


4TH PLACE - Written Exam Level 3 Team (Calculus): Berkay Sahin '28, Yiqing Ye '26, and Allison Wang '27


Individual Events:

Sophomores Selected for Prestigious Fellowship

Congratulations to Dora Wang '28 and James Malm'28, who have been selected for the New Voters 250 Fellowship. The 250 fellowship is a prestigious, year-long program that includes personal mentorship for students, the execution of two student-led voter registration drives, the completion of a 75-hour local organizing project, and a summer summit! 


AMHS Students Spend a Day at the State House

Last week Logan Jordan ‘28 and Luke Nestleroad ‘26 spent the day with AMHS alumna and SC House Representative Spencer Wetmore, an AMHS alumna. During their time at the State House, they witnessed proceedings of the constitutional law subcommittee, sat on the house floor during session, and met a multitude of state representatives and senators. Nice work, Raptors!

The Meeting Street Scholarship Fund provides up to $10,000 per year in college scholarships for high-achieving South Carolina students with a demonstrated financial need (who will be attending an eligible South Carolina college/university).

We're accepting scholarship applications for the 2025-26 school year from January - May. Learn more and apply now at this link.

CCSD is once again offering Summer 2026 internships for rising seniors!


Internships will be offered in 15+ CCSD departments. Students who are interested should apply before February 27th.

Community Service + Activities

Guidance counselors will regularly post opportunities for service on students' Canvas page and those are also sometimes shared on AMHS social media accounts. Students are encouraged to find opportunities for service in their own communities. Additional opportunties that are shared with the Raptor Report are listed below.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is hosting the 2026 Walk MS on Saturday, April 11th at the James Island County Park, Wappoo Shelter. Volunteers are needed!

Volunteers are needed for the annual Walk for Autism on Saturday April 25th, 2026 from 7 am to 1:30 pm. Any students wishing to volunteer can come for part of the hours or all. If interested in volunteering please contact Rose O'Neal at 843.553.1316 or rrzoneal@hotmail.com. Volunteers will be needed in several tasks: setting up tables and tents, manning jump castles, food stations, silent auction tables, merchandise table, ticket sales and at the end of the event breaking down tables and tents along with clean up.

The Raptor Report is published weekly by AMHS PIE on Wednesdays during the school year except for holiday breaks.



Faculty, students, and parents are encouraged to submit articles and/or pictures of AMHS events, honors, and needs.
