Spotlight Online | February 26, 2018

Did you enjoy last week's weather? It was A-M- A-A-Z-ING! I think we can all agree it is hard to stay focused with weather in the 70s, but keep plugging away and Spring Break will soon be here. Student and Community has events planned to help you learn, engage and just, chill with friends.

UPC has you covered this week on Tuesday for their Pillow Talk event in Lane 111 at 8 PM to ask the opposite gender lingering questions!

Wednesday night the Office of Student Acitivities and Greek Life will hold an Anti-Hazing Workshop by invitation only.

UPCinemas presents Jumanji on Friday at 7PM in Lane 111.Then, LIVE! at StarScape presents the traditional Irish muscians of Danu at 7:30 PM in Lane's Manicur Assembly Hall complete with a menu of Irish fare and a cash bar.

REMINDERS: Register for the Office of Civic Engagement's Moving Theory to Practice Conference . Check your inbox for conference details. OCE also reminds you to sign up now for Relay for Life at Frostburg State .

Alumni donates American flag

Alum Sam Lohff '17 works as a geospatial analyst for the United States Department of Defense. During his recent work overseas, he decided to bring back a memento of his experience. On January 29, 2018, Lohff donated an American flag to Frostburg State University's Lane University Center which flew on a military aircraft during an ISR mission.  As part of his job duties, Lohff conducts geospatial analysis, processes different imagery and supports operations.   more >>
LIVE! at StarScape: Danú
CES at Frostburg State University will present the traditional Irish musicians of Danú on Friday, March 2, in the Alice R. Manicur Assembly Hall of FSU’s Lane University Center. The 7:30 p.m. event features table and cash bar service and a menu of appetizers and desserts.

With a buoyant style described by The Washington Post as “a vibrant mix of virtuosity, energy and empathy,” Danú has emerged as one of the world’s foremost Irish music ensembles. Hailing from Counties Waterford, Cork, Dublin and Donegal, the spirited ensemble has performed to enthusiastic audiences around the globe for more than two decades, earning praise for its virtuosic use of traditional instruments such as the flute, tin whistle, fiddle, button accordion and bouzouki, accompanied by exquisite vocals.

Immediately following the performance, CES will join forces with FSU’s own WFWM-FM to present the Offstage Series With WFWM, when station director Chuck Dicken joins the artists onstage for a lively, interactive discussion with the audience.
For all CES performances: FSU students can guarantee their seat by purchasing a discounted ticket with FSU ID at the Lane University Center Box Office Monday-Friday 10AM-4PM or online. FSU students now have the option of obtaining a FREE ticket for any unsold seat at the door the night of the performance.
