Megan DeWindt resigns from CTAC to become exec director of Bay View Association

Megan DeWindt, President of Crooked Tree Arts Center (CTAC), announced her resignation last week. Effective April 15, Megan will be the new Executive Director of the Bay View Association in Petoskey.

Megan joined the team at Crooked Tree Arts Center in 2011 and was promoted to president in January 2020. With a focus on community and collaboration, she has been a strong advocate for the arts in Northwest Michigan for many years.

“While I am thrilled about my new role at the Bay View Association, my decision to leave CTAC was bittersweet,” DeWindt said.

“Crooked Tree Arts Center holds a special place in my heart. I am forever grateful for the tremendous mentorships, friendships, and support I have received over the years at CTAC. I know this supportive network will continue to ensure the present and future success of the Arts Center.”

With her years of experience and passion for non-profit arts, DeWindt brings a wealth of knowledge to lead Bay View through its 150th year and beyond.

“Megan collaborated with arts organizations including Bay View during her tenure as President of Crooked Tree Arts Center, and she is a fifth-generation Bay Viewer as well. She is a perfect fit in skills and culture to be our Executive Director,” Bay View President Robin Caldwell said.

“Bay View has a storied history, but I see an exciting future. Bay View’s mission of providing opportunities for individuals and families to reach their full potential intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, and physically is more relevant today than ever before,” says DeWindt.

DeWindt will replace retiring Executive Director Barbara Pfeil. DeWindt will begin the transition and make the role her own while Pfeil will offer support through the changeover and complete special projects until her contract expires. Pfeil began her Bay View career in 2016 as Finance Director. She was promoted as Bay View’s first woman Executive Director on December 1, 2021, and has worked to create a cohesive team and improve the campus in preparation for the 150th Jubilee in 2025. Pfiel is looking forward to leisure time and spending time with her family and her dogs.

NCMC Lifelong Learning Club is unveiling a new style of learning event

The NCMC Lifelong Learning Club is experimenting with a newly designed enrichment class combining a lecture, an assigned bestselling book and a live performance. All of the elements of this event surround the true story of "The Radium Girls." In the early 1900's radium is a miracle cure, Madame Curie is an international celebrity and luminous watches are the latest rage - until the young women who paint the watches begin to fall ill with a mysterious disease. Most of the young women become seriously ill or worse. Very unusual for their time, these women rightfully stand up for themselves in court, suing their employers for occupational hazards and endangering their workers.

This class is scheduled for April 4th and April 13th. For more on this new class click here.

There is something for everyone and all ages in this dynamic performance.

The free Sunday Series recitals are made possible through the generous support of Carolyn Klender. The Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra is a nonprofit professional orchestra headquartered at 219 E. Lake St., Petoskey. For more information, visit www.glcorchestra.org or call 231-487-0010.
