District Update from Dr. Wagner
Dear Fairview Families:

We learned today that our district has been assigned the following dates for COVID-19 vaccinations for all adults who work with our students:

Vaccination #1 - Monday, February 22nd
Vaccination #2 - Monday, March 15th

Our staff will have to travel to the Educational Service Center of Northeast Ohio in Independence to receive these vaccinations.

We originally anticipated an earlier date, but these are the dates we have been assigned.  We greatly appreciate the Educational Service Center for their efforts to coordinate and organize vaccines for over 100 districts, parochial schools, and educational institutions in Northeast Ohio.

Unfortunately, Monday, February 22nd was the date we were planning to return to our full, in-person, regular district schedule for instruction (typically referred to as “All in”). To accommodate the necessary vaccination logistics, we will have to remain in our hybrid instructional mode for one additional week, and make modifications to district services on both vaccination dates.

Therefore, the week of February 22nd will operate as a hybrid week, with Monday being an asynchronous day for all K-12 students. (More information will follow in building and teacher updates.)  Our Early Education Center will be completely closed on Monday the 22nd for daycare, preschool, and before/after school care, but will resume normal operations on Tuesday, February 23rd.  (The modified Monday schedule will also occur on March 15th.)

We hope to remain “All In” for the remainder of the school year.  However, if we see another spike in COVID cases in our community and/or schools, we may need to pivot back to either a hybrid or remote mode.  Shifts could occur by classroom (PreK-5), building, or district.  We will continue our contact tracing and notifications to parents.

The one constant throughout this pandemic has been that things constantly change.  We sincerely apologize for the challenges this may create for you and your family and greatly appreciate your continued patience and flexibility.  We know it has not been easy, but we now have a clearer timeline for moving forward. We promise to continue providing as much information as possible as we all work our way through this pandemic.

As many of you enjoy watching the Super Bowl this weekend, PLEASE be safe.  The ability to bring our students back to school, and keep them there, depends directly on activities that occur outside of the school environment.  Please review the CDC guidance below on “Safer Ways to Enjoy the Super Bowl.”

Stay safe, be well, and keep smiling!

Dr. Bill Wagner, Superintendent
