Pre-Registration Curriculum Night
Pre-Registration & Curriculum Night is Thursday, February 20, at 7pm in the gymnasium. This is an opportunity for incoming 7th grade and incoming 9th grade parents to meet with the department chairs and hear about the different courses your student may be taking next year. You will also receive information on financial aid, uniform sale dates, and you will be able to sign up for your child's registration appointment.   
A Note From the Main Office
If your child is absent, please call (317) 924-4333 or email ( twynne@cardinalritter.org ) the main office so that their attendance will be updated. If we do not hear from a parent, the absence remains unexcused. Unexcused absences will result in the student taking zeros for that day.
If your child will be late to school or need to leave early, please call (317) 924-4333 or email ( twynne@cardinalritter.org ) to cut down on classroom interruptions.

Spring Break
I know that it seems odd to be discussing Spring Break at this time but we know that many of you make travel plans in advance. Spring Break begins at 3:00 PM on Thursday, March 26th and resumes at 7:55 AM on Monday, April 6th. In order to maintain the integrity of instructional time, we do not allow extensions of Spring Break without academic penalty.
The Cardinal Ritter Softball coaches and players will be hosting a Valentine's Weekend Softball Camp on Saturday, February 15th.

Why not drop your daughter off for an evening of softball for them and a date night for you?

News from the Guidance Dept.
Junior & Senior Parents
Juniors and seniors who retested in ISTEP+ Math and/or English Language Arts in November/December will be receiving their scores in early February. If students need to retest in one or both subjects, it will occur starting in mid-February. The schedule is outlined below:

  • English Language Arts - February 10-13.
  • Mathematics - February 19-24.

Please contact the Guidance Office if you have any questions.

Sophomore Parents
ISTEP+ testing is approaching for our sophomores. This test is part of their graduation requirement and is divided up into two parts. Listed below are the details:

  • ISTEP+ Part 1 testing window Feb 24 - Mar 20. Testing at Cardinal Ritter will be Feb 25 - Mar 5 for English/Language Arts and Mar 9 - Mar 18 for Math.

  • ISTEP+ Part 2 testing window Apr 6 - May 1. As we get closer, we will share the specific dates for Cardinal Ritter.

For most students, English/Language Arts testing will occur during English class and Math testing will occur during Theology class. It may not take the entire class period each day. If you have any questions regarding your student's testing schedule, please contact the Guidance Office at (317) 924-4333 ext. 420. Thank you.
Sophomores and Juniors
Consider applying for a spot on the Mayor's Youth Leadership Council in Indianapolis! An advisory group to Mayor Joe Hogsett, the MYLC is an opportunity for 25 teens in Marion County to influence priorities and policies in the City. The group studies issues that impact youth and also provide a youthful voice to important challenges facing Indianapolis. You must have a 2.0 grade point average to apply.

Nurse's Notes
2020-21 All Grades: New Immunization Requirement for Hepatitis A
The State of Indiana will be requiring a 2 dose series of Hepatitis A immunization (doses must be at least 6 months apart) for all grades (K-12) beginning with the 2020-2021 school year. Several students have already met this requirement and I'll be notifying students with missing doses. 

Class of 2021: Hepatitis A & Meningitis Immunization Requirements
Attention Class of 2021! The State of Indiana has additional 12th grade immunization requirements that states all students in the 12th grade MUST have a booster Meningococcal vaccination (MCV4, Menactra, or Menveo) after age 16 & a 2 dose series of Hepatitis A immunizations (doses must be at least 6 months apart). These vaccines  are required for high school entry . If you had your first shot of MCV4 at age 16 or older, the booster shot is not required. Please note there is also a 2 dose series of Meningoccal B strain which is NOT required but is recommended to be done. 
The Cardinal Ritter clinic needs you to get these requirements  done before next August 2020 OR provide documentation as having already completed this requirement.   If your student needs 2 doses of Hepatitis A, the 1st dose should be completed before school starts and the 2nd dose may be done 6 months later during the 1st semester. Nurse Feltz will be contacting families by email and letters to let you know what documentation the clinic is missing for your student. You may also look in the immunization section of Family Link. Thanks for your cooperation and please reach out to Nurse Feltz with any questions.

8th Grade Graduation Volunteer Sign-Up
The 8th grade graduation reception is scheduled for Wednesday, May 27, 2020, and we need approximately six volunteers to help with this event.
