"Blessed be God my salvation!" PS 18:31
Message from the Principal
Dear Families and Friends,

As we celebrate Black History Month, we invite all families to join us on Wednesday, February 26th at 6:30 p.m. for a celebration of history, music, and culture, as we highlight various contributions made to our society. More information about this event can be found below in this newsletter.

This past Monday twenty-eight of our elementary and junior high students went to Gleaners Food Bank and helped Eric Ebron, tight end for the Colts, pack over 900 bags of food for those less fortunate. Their assistance will make a huge difference in the lives of many families in our immediate community. We believe that educating the whole child includes finding ways to learn outside the classroom and serving others just as Christ did. In the months to come, we will continue to explore ways in which our students can continue to share their gifts with others.

We want to thank those families and students who completed the Archdiocesan satisfaction survey last week. The last day to submit your feedback was last Friday. Your feedback is very important to us, so we will take some time over the next few months to review the results we are given.

In about a month, our third grade students will be completing their IREAD exam. Testing begins on March 16th, so please make sure that your child is in attendance each day that week. Our teachers have already been doing small rounds of practice testing to prepare our students for their first online standardized assessment. If you have any questions about your child’s preparation for this exam, or would like additional tutoring, please feel free to reach out to us.

Finally, as a reminder, next week is a four day week. There is no school on Friday, February 14th or on Monday, February 17th, as this is our winter break.

Have a wonderful weekend!

God bless,

Mrs. Ramos

Box Top Collection for Sweetest Teacher

The next two weeks we will be collecting Box Tops for our Sweetest Teacher Contest. Students simply need to bring in a resealable bag with their Box Tops labeled with the name of the teacher for whom they are voting, or they may bring in their receipts noting the Box Top items purchased and listing the name of the teacher for whom they wish to vote. The contest ends next Thursday, February 13th!
Reminders about Illnesses

We want to remind all of our families that if your student has been sick or has had a fever, he or she must be fever-free and not gotten sick for 24 hours before returning to school.

With so many people catching the flu this season, even after having gotten the flu vaccine, we cannot run the risk of students or staff getting sick because another student came back to school too early. Remember that this in the best interest of everyone.

Please also remember to contact the main office when your child is sick, and please send in any doctor’s notes you may have. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 317-926-0516.

Safe and Sacred Training

We would like to remind all our families wishing to help with activities where our students are present that individuals must have completed the Safe and Sacred online training and completed a background check in order to volunteer or to serve as chaperones for a field trip. Please understand that until the certificate and background check are on file, we cannot, per the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, allow individuals to volunteer or work as employees of the school without this training and background check completed. If you completed your Safe and Sacred training, but did not complete the background check, simply log in to your account with your password and press the background check to complete the entire process. If you completed your training over a year ago or are unsure of your status, please log in to your Safe and Sacred account to see whether your training and background check are current. All Safe and Sacred certificates will have an expiration date on them, allowing your training to be valid for three years.
