If you’ve gotten within smelling distance of headlines this past week you know the bad to egregious news is redlining. So how about we highlight some good news?

The state legislature in the great state of Minnesota passed a kick-ass voting rights bill. 

Pence had to testify to Mother Jack Smith re: the January 6 Insurrection.

Governor Inslee of the great state of Washington passed several bills protecting a woman’s right to choose and gender affirming care. This on top of three bills to help stop gun violence in the state, including banning the sale of assault weapons.

Senator Jamie Raskin finished chemotherapy and is in remission!

Nebraska and North Carolina failed to pass restrictive abortion bills. 

Governor Polis of the great state of Colorado passed four gun safety laws.

The Alaska Supreme Court ruled partisan gerrymandering violates the state constitution.

Cesar Chavez’ granddaughter is chairing Joe Biden’s reelection campaign.

Maryland just made it easier to vote by mail.

Recreational marijuana is now legal in Delaware.

Tucker Carlson missed his Monday show. And all the ones after that…

Disney sued DeSantis. ROTFL.

Biden refuses to blink at McCarthy’s default plans: An administration official says, “If [Republicans] need to hear again that it’s [their] responsibility to address the debt ceiling without conditions and a ransom then [Biden] can say that again.”

There’s one thing in common about all of those things: Democrats. Elected Democrats. Elected by voters who are Democrats.

As Robert Hubbell says in his latest Today's Edition Substack, “We are on an eight year winning streak. In 2016, we faced a GOP-controlled Congress and a reckless, hateful president who had to be pried out of office. Eight years later, we hold the White House and the Senate. We have increased Democratic control of statehouses and legislatures. We are making progress in state supreme courts. … We should be rightly proud.”

As Jess Craven says on her Chop Wood, Carry Water blog this week, “I, too, believe that spreading this good news is more than just a feel-good exercise. People literally don't know it's happening if we don't share it.”

What also feels like good news big enough to overwhelm all of the bad news? We just announced we’ve helped register 2.888 million new Democrats since our founding in 2019. And we’re not done. That’s good news! That’s great news! Help make more great news by volunteering and donating today!

HOW TO REGISTER NEW OHIO DEMOCRATS!

Ohio is a critical 2023/2024 battleground state. Despite a population fairly split between Democrats and Republicans, extreme gerrymandering has given the GOP a corrupt supermajority in the state legislature—one so emboldened that they ignored the Ohio Supreme Court’s ruling to redraw the maps! They're also looking to severely limit abortion rights. And now they’re trying to amend the state constitution to tighten their grip.

But Ohioans are fed up. Activists on our side are currently scrambling to collect 414,000 signatures by July 5th, so that there can be a referendum this November on whether to enshrine the right to a safe and legal abortion in the Ohio constitution.

Now is the perfect time to register Ohio Democrats all across the state, who can right these wrongs with their votes.
