| | | |
On the Day of Memory, the Argentine Festival USA joins from its place: culture.
Many of us are also part of a story of distance, searching, and rebuilding.
As Juan Gelman wrote, “not to forget exile” is also not to forget who we are.
Today we remember.
And we reaffirm that culture is a bridge:
between memory and the present,
between Argentina and the world.
On May 23, that bridge comes alive again at the festival.
| | |
Many Argentines were forced into exile,
carrying their culture and roots with them.
Today, that same community keeps memory and identity alive
through spaces such as the Argentine Festival USA,
where culture and communication continue to connect generations.
The nation lives wherever its people carry it.

Justice does not come from fear — it is built on law, memory, and human dignity.

March 24 – Memory and Reflection
Fifty years after March 24, 1976, the Argentine Festival USA joins in remembrance and reflection.
Argentina at that time was facing a deep economic, political, and social crisis. However, history shows that crises alone do not determine a nation’s path.
Before 1976, the country was already experiencing political violence, and under a democratic government, actions against armed groups had begun.
However, the events that followed marked a different stage, with consequences that remain part of collective memory.
During those years, repression extended beyond armed groups and reached broad sectors of society.
Students, workers, professionals, and social activists were among the victims, many of them young.
For many, memory is not only history, but lived experience.
Like many Argentine families, mine was directly affected during those years.
That is why we believe culture is also a space for memory, connection, and continuity.
They gave everything so that the nation could live on…
and culture keeps it alive in our hearts.

April 2 – Malvinas / Falklands
As April 2 approaches, we remember those who took part in the Malvinas War.
The conflict took place during a complex moment in Argentina’s history.
However, beyond the circumstances, thousands of Argentines responded with commitment and courage.
Soldiers, many of them very young, were sent into a challenging situation where they showed bravery and a strong sense of belonging.
Today, we honor them with respect, recognizing their effort and their place in collective memory.
The Malvinas remain a point of memory, history, and identity.
