As we go into the summer months, we are pleased to present two new courses.
Culturally Competent Trauma Informed Practice
by Dr. Charles Alexander takes us into a new and different area in our work with trauma. In this course Dr. Alexander provides a unique look at how cultural competence and trauma interact. This course is relevant and powerful and can contribute significantly in widening your scope of practice. And, once again, we are pleased to present another outstanding course by Dr. Cheryl Paulhus,
ADHD Across the Lifespan
.
The challenges of
ADHD confront a huge portion of our society, both children and adults. Dr. Paulhus presents news ways to look at ADHD and new ways to treat this enormously impactful condition.
This ADHD course is currently under review for certification.
We are constantly expanding our offerings and are developing new trainings. Coming soon: Hypnotherapy, and later this year: Addictions and Military trauma.

Culturally Competent Trauma Informed Practice
is a ground- breaking course for ITTI both in content and scope. Beginning with assessing each participant’s level of cultural competence, Dr. Charles Alexander then introduces and explores the topics of cultural diversity and trauma. Throughout the course Dr. Alexander discusses the interaction between various vulnerable populations as they interact with trauma, the signs and symptoms of traumatic stress, protective factors and helpful interventions. This is an interesting and culturally relevant course that will improve and expand your ability to work with all populations.
About the Instructor: Charles Larson Alexander, Psy.D.,
is a licensed clinical psychologist with a record of success in program development and implementation in clinical, educational and organizational environments. A skilled clinician, Dr. Alexander
provides psychological consultation in diverse settings, such as community medical centers, elementary schools, psychiatric hospitals, as well as the Department of Children and Family Service (DCFS). Dr. Alexander is committed to addressing the clinical needs of traditionally under served populations. This is evident by the fact that 95% of his adult and child clientele are recipients of Medicare and/or Medicaid. In keeping with his value of community service, Dr. Alexander seeks and welcomes opportunities to do the most for those who have the least.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
affects millions of children and adults all over the world. ADHD is a complex neurobiological disorder requiring specialized knowledge and care.

ADHD Across the Lifespan
is designed to provide comprehensive information on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder pertaining to both adults and children. The material in this course is a useful resource for therapists, teachers, parents and other professionals involved in treating, evaluating, educating and providing support services for individuals with ADHD.
· The course involves the exploration of current research and best practices for understanding adults and children diagnosed with ADHD, as well as providing useful research-based intervention techniques to address challenges across domains within this population.

ADHD
is now recognized as a relatively common mental disorder of adults, affecting 4-5 percent of the adult population and accounting for an increasing number of referrals to mental health and family practices in this country. The disorder has a pervasive impact on most major domains of daily life activities, including occupational, educational, and social functioning and health-related behavior.
· This course will explore practical strategies for your ADHD clients (both children & adults) to help them overcome the obstacles presented by weak executive skills.
About the Instructor: Cheryl Paulhus Ed. D., LPC,
has been working in the Mental Health field for the past 30 years in numerous capacities both clinically and administratively.
Dr. Paulhus specializes in the field of Trauma, with advanced clinical training in both the treatment of trauma and in assessing forensic issues. Dr. Paulhus is currently the Behavioral Health Director for Central Counties Services in Central Texas.

A former president of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry and recipient of numerous teaching and research grants from the National Institute of Mental Health, Dr. Lazarus has a private practice in Santa Fe, New Mexico and provides consultation to patients/families seeking a second medical opinion.
Dr. Jeffrey Foster
has led an exemplary career as professor, teacher, and researcher in geriatric psychiatry at New York University Medical Center. He knows the importance of interdisciplinary team approach to patient care, by having worked collaboratively with doctors, nurses, and social workers in various medical settings. A former president of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry, he’s received numerous research and teaching grants from the National Institute of Mental Health.
