Rare Folding Map of Part of the Thousand Islands

This map, published by George Rockwell in 1879, details a section of the Thousand Islands in the St Lawrence River between New York and Canada. This rare publication is the second edition of the map, the first edition being smaller and more limited in area and published in 1875. The map was created based on the surveys of Captain Owens of 1818. It is attached to its original jacket, which includes a message to the public written by Rockwell explaining the creation of the map. It includes an image of the cathedral in Wellesley Park, a list of American Summer Hotels, and a list of summer cottages and their owners.

Hammond's Bird's Eye View Map of New York to Boston
This extraordinary Bird's Eye View Map of New York to Boston offers a broad vista, showing the Hudson River, Long Island, Manhattan, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts, including Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. It features lovely detail, showing steamship lines, lighthouses, waterways, landmarks, and noting major points of interest. When this map was published, long distance travel was done primarily by boat or train, so this map focuses on railroads and steamship routes, but some major roads are included in white. You may recognize this map as one of our popular reproductions. We are pleased to have an original again to offer you!
