City Council Poised to Approve 200' Tower in a Flood Zone

San Rafael's City Council will weigh three citizen appeals of the blockbuster 200-ft 700 Irwin St. apartments--shown above facing the rising tides of the Canal at the 101 offramp to Central San Rafael.

The offramp is already subject to sea level rise flooding, and exposing two hundred new homes to that known danger sidesteps the City's bedrock responsibility to protect public health and safety.

The height of the building is quadruple the site's base height set by the Downtown Precise Plan five years ago (50') and nearly three times what the plan provides with affordable housing bonuses (70').

Come voice your concerns and insist that City policies and processes be reshaped to yield better results, while still meeting the need for affordable housing and satisfying State housing mandates.
