The Loft, Abbeville
Books and Brunch will be held on Saturday, February 16th at 10:00 a.m. in the Herndon Oil Company Loft located at 102 North Court Square, Abbeville. (Parking is in the rear of the building.) Tickets are $20 per person and on sale at the Blanche Solomon Memorial Library, The Headland Area Chamber of Commerce, The Abbeville Memorial Library and the Abbeville Chamber of Commerce.

C elebrate Henry County's Bicentennial at this special event featuring local authors. We've combined the experience of an author reading and the ambiance of brunch. You'll hear and dine along side some of our areas best authors.
HEART of Headland downtown group planning new music event series beginning April 26
The HEART of Headland downtown revitalization group is planning to host "Under The Oaks", a free live music event in the downtown square every fourth Friday beginning April 26 through September 2019. Headland is part of the Main Street Alabama Network and is beginning the application process of becoming a Main Street Alabama D esignated City. If you love Headland and want to help our community please plan to attend the next meeting on Monday, March 4, at 6 pm at You Never Know's Party Place next to Misty's Salon on the square . Please come if you can and invite others who may be interested in getting involved!

Big Mike's Seafood & More celebrates with ribbon-cutting
Headland officially welcomed Big Mike's Seafood and More on Tuesday, January 29 during a Ribbon-Cutting at the new restaurant. Located at 25 Park St., on the square in downtown Headland, Big Mike's is owned and operated by Darlean Gibson. Haylee Beck is the dining room manager. Annual Banquet Celebrated 200+ Members
The Headland Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated reaching its goal of 200 members during the Annual Membership Banquet on Thursday, January 17.  Jeremy Arthur, President & CEO of the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama was the keynote speaker. His entertaining presentation highlighted many historical Chamber of Commerce connections from Al Capone to Miss America while stressing the importance of local Chambers. He also encouraged Headland to move forward towards downtown revitalization and becoming Main Street Alabama designated city.

Board member Allen Twiggs of Golden Peanut & Tree Nuts, welcomed the crowd to event at Headland United Methodist Church, gave the invocation and introduced this year's board members and officers. Immediate Past President Luke Stevens gave the State of the Chamber Report. He noted that the Chamber had  47  new members in 2018 and already has eight new members going into 2019..."that brings us to  211  members and counting," he said. "Now that's something to celebrate!" He pointed out that Chamber members had 16 ribbon-cutting and ground-breaking events last year and the Chamber hosted or helped sponsor 20 special events in our community. He introduced the new Chamber President, Pete Crews.

The Headland Lions Club was the recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award. Club member and District Governor of South Alabama Andy Marshall accepted the award on behalf of the Lions Club. "Thank you for all your help with the Bicentennial traveling exhibit...cooking for our Business Showcase, helping with the Christmas Parade line up and more," Chamber Executive Director said. "You community spirit is contagious, and our town is an even better place because of you all."
