We spoke with the 2013 Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month for October, Jeff Jakaitis, for our latest "Q5" Interview.

The function of a MST is to refresh the specific skill sets that tend to fade during the course of a long season. We zero in on fundamental development while delivering new concepts to sprout within the goalie's overall game. This event is delivered during Christmas time as the post season push becomes eminent and is a vital component to our complete developmental approach.

The "Q5" Interview
For our Newsletter each quarter we will reach out to a different goaltender for the "Quarterly 5 (Q5)". Asking 5 questions in an effort to examine the unique perspectives they have on their games.
(Excerpt) You have been dealing with this fact your entire career. You are a small goaltender. What challenges does this pose and how have you overcome them.
I would have to do fifteen to thirty minutes of skating every practice before I ever saw a shot. It really laid the foundation for what has made me successful up to this point. You can make up for the lack in size by gaining a few extra inches of depth here and there. If you're a better skater than the bigger guys, you can offset that height advantage. It's definitely not the most enjoyable part of goaltending but you can never work on your skating too much. I still work on skating anytime I have a free moment on the ice.
