WANT TO GO A LITTLE BEYOND SIP & PAINT?
BEGINNER LANDSCAPE PAINTING (oil or acrylics)
In this 3-week painting workshop, beginner students will learn how to paint a landscape scene in either oils or acrylics. Photos will be provided as a reference or students can bring their. The instructor will lead the class with demonstrations, from initial sketch to finished painting. Instruction will be given in composition, sketching, value, color mixing, brushwork and use of materials. Students will gain an understanding of how to create depth and light in the painting.
This class is suitable for the beginner student who wants to further their skills. A supply list will be emailed to registered students. Oils or acrylics are suitable for the class but the instructor will be demonstrating in oils. (Jackson Art can provide you with use of art materials including for a fee of
$ 85 for the three weeks: includes use of oil paints, brushes, palette, rags, gamasol, canvas, & drawing supplies, )

(NEW!) PAINTING THE WINTER MOON
with Lauren Sansaricq
In this class students will tackle one of the most mysterious and alluring subjects in landscape painting- the moon. Demonstration will be given to show the most successful ways to approach a moon painting, from under painting to glazing. Through glazing, students will discover how to capture the subtle warm glow of the moonlight. Each student will leave with at least one finished moon painting. The techniques you learn in this workshop will also be applicable to a variety of different times of day and subject matter. Techniques taught in this workshop include: under painting , glazing , scumbling, translucent glazing , and tonal glazing. This workshop is open to all levels and abilities. Class size will be kept small to allow for personal attention. A supply list will be emailed to registered students

(NEW!) Introduction to Japanese Color Woodblock Printmaking
with Matt Brown
This exciting three day workshop offers an introduction to process of Japanese woodblock printing. The Japanese developed this tradition using water as a medium, brushes to apply colors to the blocks, and a hand-held baren instead of a press to transfer colors from the carved blocks to the papers. This workshop is organized to offer a comprehensive introduction to the wonderful range of tools, techniques, and materials involved in this process. Everyone completes a multi-color print and engages with aspects of design, carving, and printing. There is an emphasis on sharing tricks and techniques that may be adapted to other art-making (watercolor painting, western style printmaking). All experience levels are welcome. A $75 supply fee will be payable to the instructor at the first class and will include all the tools and materials needed for this workshop.

(NEW!) Jewelry Design with Jesse Mixer
In this one day jewelry making workshop, students will learn how to draw and cut designs in copper and silver and create a pair of earrings and or necklace. Jesse will share her secrets and techniques to help you create personal and unique jewelry of your very own design. She will also cover some wire wrapping techniques. Please bring protective eye wear and or reading glasses, any designs ideas that you have and beads that you might like to incorporate. Additional supplies and stones will be available to
purchase. A $50 supply fee will be payable to the instructor at the class.

KIDS LANDSCAPE PAINTING : LIGHT & ATMOSPHERE
(After School Class)
with Melanie Levitt
This 4 week painting class is for students who love to paint and want to improve their skills. We will work on a landscape painting of a mountain scene from initial sketch to final masterpiece. Emphasis of the class will be on creating a painting with a sense of light and atmosphere. The instructor will lead the students step by step and encourage individual style. This class is suitable for all levels and abilities. All materials included. Please pack a snack and drink.
Mondays, February 22-March 14 3:45-5:15pm $95 includes supplies Ages 7-14
(Bartlett & Jackson students can take the bus directly to the studio but
have to arrange with the school)
