On July 28, 2016  Hon. Lorie Zapf and William (Bill) York were elected to the FACT Board of Directors. FACT currently has 9 Board Members.

As the Executive Vice President of 2-1-1 San Diego, Mr. York brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise that is instrumental in building and working with 2-1-1's key community partners to design and build new programs within our service delivery structure to better serve the client and those entities that serve them. Mr. York restructured the Programs and Service Delivery Team in order to better meet 2-1-1's mission, contract deliverables and standards, while building the infrastructure for future programs around issues impacting our community.

Mr. York joined 2-1-1 as a disaster volunteer during Firestorm 2007, helping 2-1-1 staff connect San Diegans to critical response and recovery information. In December following the disaster, he was brought on board as a Client Service Representative. Mr. York was quickly promoted to Service Design Manager, followed by promotion to Director of Programs, then COO, and today is 2-1-1's Executive Vice President.

San Diego City Councilwoman Lorie Zapf is serving her second term, currently representing the Beach & Bay Communities of District 2. She has served as Chair of the City's Smart Growth and Land Use Committee for the past four years where one of her top priorities is to make housing more affordable for working families.  She is currently a member of the City's Audit and Infrastructure Committees, in addition to serving on the Boards of SANDAG and MTS.

Councilwoman Zapf brings years of business experience to City Hall as the former owner of a successful natural food company that she and her husband grew from an idea to a nationally distributed product.  Lorie uses her experience as a small business owner to help bring about common sense reforms and initiatives at City Hall that reduce the burdens of costly government regulations and fees.

She received her Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Cal State Northridge and a Master's Degree in Marketing Communication from the University of Denver.  Lorie lives in the Bay Ho area of Clairemont with her husband and two musically talented teenage daughters.

FACT and Partners awarded USDOT "Rides to Wellness" grant

FACT, received a $200,000 "Rides to Wellness" grant from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), an agency of US Department of Transportation (USDOT). FACT partnered with Tri-City Hospital and San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) in its grant application.

FACT was one of 19 agencies selected via a nationwide competitive process.  Only 2 of the 19 grants were awarded in California.  The grant will allow FACT and it's partner Tri-City Hospital to pilot a new process for providing rides expeditiously for patients who are discharged from the hospital and for their follow up visits.  The pilot project will launch during late 2016; the duration of the pilot is 18 months.  The objective of the grant is to improve patient outcomes, improve the transportation service, reduce the cost of transportation and overall spending on healthcare by reducing hospital readmission.
