Welcome to the 2017 Hammer Olympic & Sprint Triathlon / Duathlon. The events start with the Duathlon 5K run at 8 AM, sprint triathlon waves with 400 meter swim at 8:10 & 8:13 AM & Olympic triathlon waves with 1.5K swim at 8:16 & 8:19. Events benefit the Loudon County Animal Shelter, Bearden ROTC & Pellissippi Science Clubs. 

Pet food donations will get a special gift or $10 off a future ESM event. Those already donating CASH will get a special gift at packet pickup.
 
Water temperature was 67 degrees Tuesday, April 25th. Warmer temperatures are expected through the week with race day water temperature expected to be 68-70 degrees. Wet suits will most likely be permitted. USAT official will make ruling race morning.


RACE LOCATION: The Tellico Recreation Area is located outside Lenoir City, TN just off Rt. 321/95 on Rt. 444  - Tellico Parkway.  Lenoir City is about 30 miles Southwest of Knoxville. From I-75 exit #81 take Rt. 321/95 towards Maryville approx. 4 miles to exit for Rt. 444 Tellico Parkway. The exit is to the RIGHT just after crossing the Fort Loudon Dam. The Tellico Recreation Area is straight ahead - look for banner. Please park in the field to the left  or follow signs for spots right behind transition area.

USAT Verification: PHOTO ID AND USAT LICENSE will be required at check-in. If you paid one-day license on-line, we will have record. NO EXCEPTIONS - $15 one-day license will be required for those without USAT Card - No Photo ID = No Race.  Relays MUST check-in together - all members present.
 
TIMING: Swim verification mats MUST be crossed prior to start per USAT regulations. Follow flagging to swim entrance. Timing chips / straps will be distributed pe-event and returned immediately upon finishing the race. Please make sure CHIP # matches RUN, BIKE & HELMET #'s. Timing splits and finish times will be recorded as you cross the timing mats.  Live Results Link  -  $30 charge for not returning your chip. 
 
START INFORMATION: Duathlon : Race will begin before triathlon with 5K run starting at the pavilion parking lot. Triathlon: Sprint waves will begin at 8:10 AM & 8:13 AM - Olympic waves 8:16 & 8:19 AM
Triathlons start after Duathlon to avoid bike/runner cross-overs. The swim is a wave start from inside the swim area. The sprint course will be a rectangular course finishing on the beach of the other swim area. Olympic course a straight out & back along full length of Tellico Levy. Keep buoys to your Right. Follow flagging/markings to transition area.  Provided swim cap REQUIRED.

Warning: USAT has found many injuries / fatalities to be caused by failure to WARM UP 
prior to start. ALL ATHLETES are urged to WARM UP either on land or in the water prior to start. Early season Open Water Swims are notorious for a good SHOCK TO YOUR SYSTEM  - Please warm up prior to start!

Bike Routes: Bikes mounted on Pavilion Road - two quick lefts out of Park onto Tellico Parkway - continue down wide shoulder approx. 5.5 miles to RIGHT onto Davis Ferry Road - approx. 2 miles to LEFT onto Maple Hill Road - up & down approx. 1 mile to Tellico Parkway - SPRINT turns LEFT & back to park Olympic turns RIGHT on Tellico Parkway for approx. 4 miles to turn-around just before Hwy. 72 & return to park.

RUN INFORMATION: The course will be all within the Tellico recreation area. Runners will go out Pavilion road to Right & circle Boat Ramp lot, head back to LEFT returning back to the pavilion road, then Right up onto the levy path, 180 degree turn  down to gate, turn-around & follow paved levy path to Tellico Dam turn-around,  return levy path to gate (2nd time), back up to ramp / levy / park road to finish. 10K 2nd lap run is a repeat of the first. There are 3 aid stations on the course. Finish under banner, return chip & take FINISHERS MEDAL! Stay to the right on paths during both runs.
 
TRANSITION:  ATHLETES ONLY in TRANSITION - SHOW # WHEN EXITING WITH GEAR TO BE RELEASED AT COMPLETION OF EVENT
 - Transition Flow: Swim In / Run Out (duathletes enter at swim in also) & Bike Out / Bike In -  Bike racks will be first come. All competitors will be going through the entire transition area.  NO RIDING IN THE TRANSITION AREA. Bike will be mounted and dismounted on Pavilion Road. 
 
USAT Info: ALL USAT RULES APPLY.  (follow link to USAT for COMMON RULE VIOLATIONS) USAT official will be present Sunday to clarify questions and concerns. Water temperature will be measured by official Sunday morning & wet suit determination made. 
 
Remember to stay to the far right unless you are passing someone. Helmets must be approved and buckled at ALL TIMES WHILE ON THE BIKE. No HEADPHONES, PHONES, ETC. at any time during event. Take all the photos you want prior to & after the event.

Base Performance: Base Performance fluid replacement will be available on run & under the pavilion pre & post event. 

POST RACE FOOD, AWARDS & DOOR PRIZES:
Beverages and food will be available after the race. Rudy Project and other prize drawings will be made prior to and during awards ceremonies. Splits will be available on RESULT KIOSKS set up under pavilion area.  You can register for TEXT / E-MAIL NOTIFICATIONS OF RESULTS HERE. Please share link with your friends & family so they can see your progess & finish times.

The Montgomery Bell State Park in Dickson, TN is our host for a unique "endurance" distance and sprint triathlons. Performance shirts & socks for all participants. Unique awards to top 3 M & F finishers, top M & F Masters and 3 deep in 5 year age groups. 
Dickson Endurance Triathlon Details: SWIM - 1 mile - The swim takes place in Acorn Lake - BIKE - 38 miles - The bike is a flat to rolling bike course that is perfect for athletes of all abilities. Athletes will complete 2 1/2 laps with a water bottle exchange on back side of park at Hwy. 47 & Buddy Road. RUN - 15 kilometers - The run is a challenging out and back course with aid stations each mile.
IRON NUGGET DETAILS: SWIM - .5 mile - The swim takes place in Acorn Lake - one loop.BIKE - 17 miles - The bike is a flat to rolling bike course that is perfect for athletes of all abilities. RUN - 5 kilometers - The run is a challenging out and back course with aid stations each mile. Both events benefit Friends of Montgomery Bell SP & Dickson HS ROTC program .


The Goose Pond Island Half Iron & Sprint Triathlons return to the Goose Pond Colony Resort, located in Scottsboro, Alabama on Sunday, May 28, 2017. Events are a joint effort of Peak Racing Events of Georgia and Endurance Sports Management of Tennessee. We invite all to come enjoy the beauty and challenge awaiting in our host Northern Alabama venue!
The 1.2 mile swim will be in the pristine waters of Lake Guntersville. 
The 56 mile bike makes use of the natural terrain of the area. Scottsboro is located in the Sequatchie Valley in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The bike route will be fairly flat and fast. 
The 13.1 mile run will leave transition and run along the golf course before turning into the campground beginning two 5.3 mile loops. The run provides views of Lake Guntersville as well as plentiful wildlife. Aid stations will be passed 16 times. 
Sprint race includes a 500 meter Swim, 12 mile Bike & 5K run. Swim will be an in-water start at end of pier with a rectangular course & beach exit. Bike will be similar to the upcoming Frantic Frog loop. Run will also be an out and back route into campground & return to finish by the lake.

The Summer Solstice Tellico Sprint Triathlon has a long history of challenging athletes swimming in clear, cool Tellico Lake, in the bike climbs on Tellico Parkway / Davis Ferry and on the scenic run course allowing you to see & race your competition. 2017 will also include in door prizes from Rudy Project,  Xterra Wetsuits and other vendors. Shirts will be a vibrant color & finishers medals will be waiting as you complete your race!

Enjoy Summers longest days with scenic lake views on a 10K course or choose the Smoky Mountain Service Dog 5K on Saturday, June 17th. The runs take advantage of the longest days of the year with a 8 AM start. Both distances feature finishers medal, vibrant shirts, good food & fun! 5k benefits Smoky Mtn. Service Dog Foundation & has unique shirts and awards.
