2017 JPS Teacher of the Year
Congratulations to Ashley Hewitt Rogers, the 2017 Jackson Public Schools Teacher of the Year! Ms. Rogers teaches fifth-grade English language arts and social studies at Green Elementary.

JPS Interim Superintendent Dr. Freddrick Murray made the announcement on Monday, February 20 with an entourage of District Administrators present. The school also hosted a reception in Rogers' honor that gave her colleagues, students, family, and friends an opportunity to celebrate this well-deserved achievement.
2017 JPS Administrator of the Year
Dr. Shauna Nicholson-Johnson is the 2017 Jackson Public Schools Administrator of the Year. Jackson Public Schools Chief Academic Officer of Elementary Schools Dr. William Merritt made the announcement during a schoolwide assembly at Baker Elementary where Dr. Nicholson-Johnson is the principal.

Dr. Nicholson-Johnson led Baker Elementary to an A-rating in the 2015-2016 school year. Under her leadership, the school also achieved the highest growth in reading statewide among the lowest 25 percent of elementary students.
