SHOUTOUT... to us! Celebrate our 2018 Reward schools & Priority exit schools!

Did you hear the news? SCS schools put up some impressive stats in the TODE's 2018 Accountability report. Our principals, teachers and school support staff worked hard in 2017-18 school year and deserve a ton of credit for their accomplishments. We reduced the number of schools on the Priority list (from 21 to 18), with 11 schools coming off the list and five earning Reward status! Plus, we more than tripled our Reward schools (from 9 to 37). Please give it up for everyone who played a role in these accomplishments. It's even OK to do a little happy dance... you've earned it!
Own a small biz or want to support others? Come to the SCS Small Biz Expo!

Join us at the Agricenter International this Saturday for the first ever Shelby County Schools Small Business Expo. Businesses owned by SCS students, teachers and parents, along with other 901 vendors, will be on display to showcase everything from handmade jewelry to unique foods, clothing, professional services and more. The expo will be from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Agricenter. Don't forget to bring cash in case some of our small businesses aren't equipped for credit transitions.

Want to promote your small business at the Expo? Complete your vendor form before Saturday to sign up.
Need motivation to hit the gym this fall? How does a FREE Fitbit Surge sound!
You read it right! We're bribing... we mean motivating SCS employees to #ChooseHealthy and take the SCS Fitness Challenge this fall! What's in it for us? Healthy, happy employees. What's in it for you? Some great prizes! The challenge is simple, or as challenging as you want to make it - aim high! All you need to do is commit to being active for 30 minutes a day, four days a week during the six-week challenge. Interested? Head on over to the registration website to get signed up by October 5. The challenge runs October 8 - November 9. Get contest details here.
Join the movement. Take the #SCSis901 Pledge to help take SCS to new heights.

We're still squealing over those awesome Accountability Report results, but we know there's always more work to be done in our District. We're keeping the momentum going by engaging the entire 901 community in our work, and as an SCS employee and citizen in the 901 community (lookin' at you too, 662!), we urge you to take the #SCSis901 pledge and share it with two friends. The pledge is simple: 1. Share our stories. Talk to your friends and family about the great things happening in SCS and share our wins on your social media pages. 2. Pledge your time. If you're not a school-based employee, consider taking time to volunteer in a school or supporting your favorite SCS educator in their work. 3. Be an advocate. This means anything from being registered to vote to becoming an active in your local school's PTA. The success of SCS and 901 starts with YOU!
We're looking for the 901 stars of SCS? Send us your best story ideas!

Now that we've gotten you all fired up with that epic pledge summary, let's get started with step 1! Send us your favorite 901er ( yeah, we made that up) for a chance to have him/her/them featured in the our #SCSis901 video campaign. We're looking for students, teachers, leaders, alumni and community members who embody the spirit of SCS and 901. We want to share their stories of heart, innovation, determination, soul and pride that make our schools and the 901 community unique and wonderful. Check out the details here and send us a heads-up if you know someone worthy of the 901 spotlight.
