On March 27th, Goodwill celebrated the Grand Opening of the newly relocated Charlottesville Store. The new store is located in the former Gander Mountain location on Route 29 North and provides the public with a larger, newer, and easier-to-shop location. It is also easily accessible on Route 29 at a traffic signal and features a convenient, drive-thru Donation Center, ample parking spaces, the familiar faces of the Charlottesville Pantops & Route 29 South Goodwill store teams, and the same high-quality, low cost items that customers who have shopped at Goodwill for years have come to expect.

Goodwill Industries of the Valleys has participated in the Goodwill Digital Career Accelerator program since 2017 through the initiative with Goodwill Industries International (GII) and Google.org. The program provides digital skills training to U.S. workers and was designed to meet a range of needs - from basic keyboarding to advanced computer programming - to sharpen the digital skills of today's workers and provide the necessary training that are specific to entry- and mid-level occupations. Due to the program's success, GII and Google.org are expanding the program nationwide.

Jenn Gowen

If you joined us for Goodwill's Annual Awards Ceremony on May 7th, you saw Jenn Gowen receive the Outstanding Employee award for Support Services. You probably also picked up on how passionate Jenn is about Goodwill's mission in the community - a passion that's contagious to everyone who meets her. Jenn lives out that passion each day she comes to work in Goodwill's Finance department. But she is also one of our many employees who chooses to donate part of each paycheck back to Goodwill.
Building Brighter Futures
A message from our President & CEO, Bruce Phipps

As we reflect back on 2018, we see that there are brighter futures for the members of the Goodwill workforce, both our own associates and individuals we have served through Goodwill programming. We also recognize that we were able to provide services because of the community members and employers who chose to support Goodwill.
