We're looking for recommendations for a good hotel near the Atlanta airport for Friday night, June 22. Ideally, the hotel would have moderate rates, free breakfast, reliable shuttle transport to the International Terminal, and parking arrangements on-site for those of us driving a vehicle to Atlanta and parking it until we return on June 30.
Staying at this hotel on Friday night is not required, since several of us live close enough to Atlanta to drive to the airport Saturday morning. However, for those of us driving to Atlanta on Friday, it would be convenient to stay together to distribute the supply duffle bags and coordinate shuttle runs to the airport Saturday morning.
Anyone have a hotel to recommend? Send the information to us as soon as you can, and on May 3 we'll send out another team message with a decision on the designated hotel. We'll also post that hotel information on the trip planning page, linked below:
The team fee of $650 was due on April 25, and almost all of them have been received. We'll contact those who still need to send in that payment sometime today.
We have mailed a check from the Christ Church DR Mission Fund to the Dominican Development Group to pay for most of our in-country expenses, and this morning we received the happy news that our check has been received at the DDG's office in Tampa, FL. The DDG will electronically transmit those funds to the treasurer of the Diocese of the Dominican Republic on May 4. Some of that money will be used at the Campamento to buy the paint and lumber supplies we need for our projects, and we have already sent Padre Canela a detailed list of what we need so he can buy them and have them on hand when we arrive.
Only 8 tickets remain on sale for the May 3rd DR Dinner and Auction at the Cotton Corner, 101 N. Ashley Street, Valdosta, from 6 - 8:30 p.m. Most of the auction items have been turned in, and plans are almost complete for this annual fundraiser to support scholarship funds for students in the Episcopal school in El Pedregal.
