FCC RELEASES NPRM TO REVISE CHILDREN’S TV RULES
This week the FCC released its Fact Sheet on its proposed NPRM to revise the Children’s Television rules. The changes proposed are quite extensive, and exceed what most of the trade press had been predicting. If the changes are eventually adopted, they would significantly reduce the burden on TV stations connected to these rules. Note in particular the proposals to file Children’s Television Reports annually rather than quarterly, eliminate the requirement that stations increase the amount of children’s educational programming by an additional three hours per week for each multicast stream aired, and allow stations to air all of their children’s educational programming on multicast channels (rather than on the primary) without regard to whether those multicast streams are carried by MVPDs.

Chris Winkle
KBA President/CEO
One of our primary objectives here at the Kentucky Broadcasters Association is to serve you, our membership.  While we are very proud of the numerous member services that we currently offer, I believe that it’s important to acknowledge that the broadcast industry is constantly evolving and your needs within that “stratosphere of change” are also evolving. So, please consider this your personal invitation to sound off in regards to KBA’s member services. Which service do you value most and which best accommodates your operational environment? What services and benefits can we potentially add that may offer more opportunities and growth for your station? After all, no one knows your station and your needs better than… well, YOU! KBA’s Member Services Committee will be meeting on Tuesday, June 26 th to review existing services and consider new opportunities going forward. We would like to hear from you prior to the meeting next week. Your input is critical, so please do not hesitate to reach out to myself or Mark Buckles, Member Services Committee Chairman, at mbuckles@k105.com .

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)

Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"
