2018 Spring Newsletter
Blessings!
Thanks to the Lord, your prayers and generous support 2017 was a great year for God's Kingdom in Matamoros! We are believing that 2018 will also be a great year, and we want to share with you what is going!
New Church Plant in Rural Area
A couple years we began doing some missionary work at a rural community named “Ejido Florida.” We chose this community because there isn’t a church there, and there weren’t any Christians. After several trips and lots of prayer, we are ready to start a local church there.
The congregation is meeting under a shack, but it is time to move into something bigger. We were able to find a property for sale that already has a small building (the building will have to be torn down), so please help us pray for God’s provision.
Brother Mingo, a graduate from our Bible institute is the missionary working there, and will be leading this congregation. Please keep him and his wife in your prayers.
New Church Plant in Usulutan, El Salvador
Last year through your prayers and support we had the opportunity to start an extension of our Bible institute in Usulutan, El Salvador. One of the students there started a house church that just recently turned into a local church. Since the congregation began to grow, they had to move into a bigger building. Right now we are renting, but ours prayers are that the Lord will provide a building of our own. Please keep pastor Joel Lemus and his family in your prayers, this is a country were the infamous gang MS 13 is heavily present, and the goal is to reach out to them.
New Church Plant in Reynosa, Mexico
Reynosa is a city that has been terribly affected by the cartel wars. Two cartels have been fighting for its territory creating daily shootings, kidnappings and murders. To make matters worst they are recruiting on daily basis teenagers and young adults.
We have been asking the Lord to open a door to start an urban church with the sole purpose of reaching young people involved in the cartel. Two week ago the Lord opened that door! Two weeks ago we met in Reynosa with three non Christian Rap singers who are also urban gang leaders. We told them our purpose, and they recognized the need of God in Reynosa, and in their lives! We prayed together, we read the Bible, and we all committed to the Lord’s commission.
On February 23rd we met again to start a house church that could eventually turn into a local urban church. We will be traveling to Reynosa on Fridays and spend the night there since traveling at night is very dangerous. Please pray for hearts ready to hear the Gospel, for God’s provision, and specifically for “Parek,” “Drop,” and Derys” these guys just gave their lives to Christ and are key leaders in the urban community.
City-Wide Youth Outreach Concert
At the end of 2017 we had another city-wide youth outreach event, and the Lord allowed us to present the gospel to over four hundred people! We gave out free t-shirts, CDs, and the Gospel. In this event we invited a famous non Christian rapper from Reynosa (Parek). After the concert he spent the night in Matamoros, and attended our urban church on Sunday, he was touched by the Holy Spirit and this is how the Lord opened a door to start a church in Reynosa.
We will have several youth outreach events throughout 2018, so please keep us in your prayers! Our only purpose is to take the Gospel to the streets!
Freezing Temperatures Hit the North Of Mexico
The months of December through February brought extreme cold fronts to Matamoros, and other border cities. The people are not prepare for this kind of weather, so they struggle tremendously. In order to help out we turned one of our churches into a temporary shelter throughout December and February. In addition, we traveled to different communities taking hundreds of blankets, winter clothes, medical supplies, and food.
Bible Institute - El Salvador Campus
Pastor Jorge Osorio, director
As we already mentioned, last year we were able to start an extension of our bible institute in Usulutan, El Salvador! Right now they are sharing a building with our newest church there.
Thanks to your support we were able to help them buy a printer to produce the teaching material for the students. Please keep them in your prayers as they recruit new future leaders. Pastor Jorge Osorio is the director, keep him in your prayers.
Christmas Outreach
Every year all of our churches commit to reach out to the community with the real meaning of Christmas. Thanks to your support and prayers we were also able to give the kids Christmas stockings and a gift, thank you!
Traveling to El Salvador
In order to continue to expand the Gospel, we will be traveling to El Salvador in the middle of April, so would you please keep us in your prayers for God's direction and provision?
THANK YOU!
It is only through your prayers and support that we are able to do all this, so YOU are part all of it!
