9-11 Memorial Glade 
Honors First Responders
 
The Glade is a path dedicated to all of the response, recovery, and rescue Responders who came to sites in New York, Virginia and Pennsylvania to help and who years later fell ill or died after inhaling toxins at the World Trade Center site.

The path, bordered by six large battered stones, is located at the approximate site of a temporary ramp that First Responders used during the cleanup effort. 

Michael Arad, one the designers, expressed their meaning: "The stones appear to jut up and out of the plaza as if violently displaced, and convey strength and resistance." Their design incorporates steel from the original World Trade Center site.

Several pieces of debris from the original World Trade Center were also placed along the path, which ends at the Survivor Tree, a beloved symbol of New York's resilience.

Let the RAYS OF OUR LOVE'S LIGHT 
EMANATE from those sites out 
to the far reaches of the UNIVERSE 
with an energy so powerful 
that it will shift the planet's axis
