Annual STEM Essay Competition

The Buckman STEM Essay Competition is now open! This year's theme is 'Today's Challenges, Tomorrow's STEM Solutions.' Essays are due by 5 pm on Friday, April 26! Don't miss out on this great opportunity to learn more about the impact of STEM, enhance your writing skills, and win cash prizes!!!

6 (and counting) of our T-STEM Students PASSED the AutoCAD Inventor Certification Test- and counting... We are so proud of our mustangs!

We are the ONLY school in the district whose students have passed the test!

We believe in setting our students apart from other high school students by preparing them to compete for the next phase of their lives. One way we do this is by preparing our students to become an Autodesk Inventor Certified User .

Passing the Inventor User Certification exam proves that they have the tools and skills required for success in today’s mechanical design field- as a high school student! Exam overview. The Autodesk Inventor Certification exam covers a wide variety of topics, or ranging from sketching and parts to assemblies and drawings.

We also have 9 students who have passed the CompTIA and 4 who have passed the Adobe certifications test!

Did you earn industry certifications in high school? T-STEM students do!

JROTC 3rd Place Winners!

I very proud to announce that our JROTC team Place 3rd out of 13 teams that competed for the Annual Shelby JROTC competition. Cadet Jayla Webb also placed 1st in the mile run.

Congratulations to East Army JROTC cadets, Cadet First Lieutenant Taylor Boswell, Cadet First Lieutenant Destinee Hollman, Cadet First Sergeant Ariel VanRensalier, and Cadet Private First Class Jasmine Harris placing 1st place during the Shelby County Health Knowledge Bowl.

Spotlight of the Week

First Sergeant Broadus

1SG Eugene Broadus III enlisted in the Army in July 31,1992 as a Field Artilleryman. He served honorably on Active Duty for 26 years. 1SG Broadus was hired by Shelby County Schools in August 2018. He currently serves as Army Instructor for East High, 1SG Broadus resides in Cordova, TN with his beautiful wife Teresa and has four children Tyneisha, Marquise, Keondre, Simira and two granddaughters Myauna and Gianna.
