Dear Parents,

Welcome to the 2019-2020 season of the Common Ground Speaker Series! We are delighted to share a fantastic slate of speakers who are eager to share their expertise and wisdom with us. Whether your children have just started elementary school or are looking toward college, our speakers will be on hand to guide you on your parenting journey.

As part of our efforts to more fully engage with our community, we are delighted to announce that we are partnering with three outstanding organizations aligned with our mission of inspiring strong families. For our kick-off event on September 17 at Junipero Serra High School we join forces with StarVista for their annual Navigating the Tides event. This not-to-be-missed mental health panel will feature Julie Lythcott-Haims, along with StarVista mental health experts. Rachael Myrow, KQED's acting Silicon Valley Bureau Chief, will join us to moderate this event. Please mark your calendars as you don't want to miss this informative evening!

This fall, we will also be featuring Common Sense Media as they share the results of a just-released national study on teens and media use. And in early 2020, the Children's Health Council will lead a panel discussion about anxiety, depression and learning differences. CHC has officially joined us as a member through their Sand Hill School – we are thrilled to be working together to deepen our commitment to families with learning differences.

Please take a moment to add these events to your master calendars as you won't want to miss this special season! As Jane Goodall says, "One thing I learned from watching chimpanzees with their infants is that having a child should be fun." Let's spend this year enjoying our children and each other, celebrating and learning together.

Warmly,

Marcie Kay
