We have been fortunate to have some Music Students and the Social Studies Department honored this past month.
Congratulations to our Music students who performed at the prestigious ILMEA District 9 Honor Band, Choir, and Orchestra last week! If you have a student who is currently in a Chemistry course, she or he may come home this month and tell you about a lesson in class that day when no Chemistry was taught. I would like to make sure that parents understand that their students are completely correct. We did not do any Chemistry that day.
During October, Mrs. Keely Hanley-Anshel (Division Head for Guidance) and I (Division Head for Science) take the time to visit every class of Essentials of Chemistry, Chemistry, and Honors Chemistry. We facilitate class discussions and independent student skill/interest inventories focused on helping students to identify the need to build essential skills and passions that will allow them to compete in a much different future job market than the tradition one adults have experienced.

What an amazing time to be a wildcat, with new construction and a state championship in soccer, we have a lot to be proud of and celebrate. On Friday, November 8th, our community of Wildcat educators came together to continue learning from each other in an assortment of breakout sessions. Breakouts focused on a variety of topics ranging from using Twitter and Google maps in the classroom to methods of engaging student voice in the classroom. At the end of the day the teachers came together to send off our state bound soccer team, to their semi-final match. This amazing send-off encompassed what it is to have Wildcat Pride.
The LRC staff is eagerly anticipating the move to our new location in the second story addition. With the installation of flooring and ceilings and paint on the walls, the new space is really starting to take shape. We finalized our furniture selections
