2019 - 2020
Tobacco Intervention: Basic Skills
Join other health professionals in this one-day training to learn more about nicotine addiction and how to integrate brief, evidence-based tobacco treatment interventions into current practice. Led by licensed health professionals, this training will increase participants’ confidence for working with patients or clients who use tobacco.
Target Audience: All health, health education and public health professionals
A limited number of scholarships are available for Basic and Intensive trainings. Please contact us for more information.
Interested in becoming a Nationally Certified
Tobacco Treatment Specialist?
You are required to complete both the Basic and Intensive Skills trainings in order to become certified.The Training and Education Program at the MaineHealth Center for Tobacco Independence is accredited through the Council for Tobacco Treatment Training Programs (CTTTP) to prepare health professionals to become Nationally Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialists.
This annual conference brings nationally recognized speakers and local experts together to discuss a wide array of tobacco treatment and prevention topics, new research and innovative approaches to tobacco control. It also provides an opportunity to network with other tobacco treatment professionals from across the state. This is the third required training offered in the Tobacco Treatment Specialist Certification pathway for healthcare professionals in Maine.

CTI provides education and training on evidence-based tobacco treatment to healthcare and behavioral health professionals in Maine on behalf of the Maine CDC, DHHS. Our goal is to improve access to high quality, best practice tobacco treatment and create a network of tobacco treatment specialists across the state.
