School Calendar Update
The 2019-2020 school calendars have been approved by the board of education! Developing a school year calendar is always an involved process, but this year was especially unique in establishing a precedent for the timing of spring break next year and in the future. This year, families and employees were asked to provide input on one specific question: Do you prefer a floating spring break attached to the Easter holiday as it has been traditionally scheduled, or do you prefer a more consistently scheduled spring break? The results from the poll show that 72 percent of 862 respondents (families and employees) preferred a more consistent approach to spring break.
5 Questions with District Parents
Sarah Timmer & Becky Wudy
Sarah and Becky are district parents who serve on the executive board for Area Council, an organization largely comprised of PTO/PTSO members across all schools with the common goal of enriching the educational experience of all MTSD students.
Long Range Master Plan Overview
We strive to build trust and add value among all stakeholders through effective management of resources, while also creating and maintaining the best possible environment for student learning and growth. This requires the development of a strategic and focused long-range framework and vision for our facilities that balances priorities and opportunities.

We are excited to announce that we are in the initial stages of developing a long-range plan for our facilities, a process we’re calling a “Framework for Our Future.” The ultimate purpose of the project is to develop a 10-year framework that articulates the district’s preferred state in
  • current and future building capacity
  • facility condition and capital maintenance
  • modern learning environments, extra- and co-curricular opportunities, and recreational programs.

Developing a Framework for Our Future requires input from the community, including employees, families, students, community members, and area organizations and businesses.
Your Voice Matters!
MTSD parents and guardians are invited to participate in an online survey focusing on student relationships, the learning environment, safety and well-being, environments and programs, family engagement, and overall district quality. Results from this survey will help your child’s school and the district enhance the educational experience for all students and families while monitoring progress toward strategic plan goals. It should take approximately 8-10 minutes to complete the survey for one school. Submissions are anonymous. The survey window is open now through December 31, 2018.

Your voice is important—please share your feedback! Check your email from Monday, December 17 for a link to the online survey.
