Award Spotlight: Ybor City Development Corporation

Congratulations to the Ybor City Development Corporation for receiving the 2019 Promotion Award for More In Ybor. 

More in Ybor was designed to change the perception of Ybor City Historic District's identity as Tampa's Entertainment District to a unique, walkable neighborhood ideal for launching businesses and residing. 

Ybor City Development Corporation  developed a multi-channel campaign to attract developers, entrepreneurs and potential residents to the area. 

Through creative marketing including brochures, website design, social media, photo contests and more, Ybor City was able to fund various corporate headquarters, hotels and new apartments and became the new hub for innovative technology development.

Two Florida Cities Recognized by the National League of Cities 

The National League of Cities (NLC) recognized 50 cities, universities and national organizations that have gone above and beyond to ensure their community will thrive in their modern, technology-driven economy.  

These cities, including Tampa and West Palm Beach, have sought out local partnerships and innovative resources to better support its young businesses, increasing STEM education and workforce training. The recognized cities stand as national leaders and are praised for their commitment to improving their community's local entrepreneurship.

Board Member Spotlight:
Brenda Thrower

The FRA would like to highlight one of our board members, Brenda Thrower!

Brenda has over 20 years of experience in redevelopment and is currently serving her fourth year on the FRA board of directors.

She has been the economic development specialist for the Ybor City Development Corporation for the past 23 years. She is dedicated to revitalizing and promoting community projects to protect Ybor City. 
Her responsibilities include attracting private investments to support new residential development and address blighted conditions throughout the City.
