The 2019 Annual Report and Resolutions Book for the 2019 UBCM Convention is now available. Print copies of both documents will also be distributed to every local government in British Columbia, with copies for each local elected official and CAO. Read more 
Nominations for 2019-2020 UBCM Executive        
 
In response to a Call for Nominations by UBCM's Nominating Committee, the Nominating Committee Report has been prepared and is now available online. The report includes a summary of candidates running for Executive positions and their bios. Members will receive print copies of the report by mail before the end of August. Read more 
Local Government Energy Utilities Inquiry         
 
The BC Utilities Commission (BCUC) will undertake an Inquiry to examine the regulation of energy utilities affiliated with municipalities and regional districts in order to provide regulatory clarity to the BCUC, utilities and local governments. The Inquiry will explore issues related to ownership structures and operational arrangements of utilities affiliated with local governments; including the appropriate regulatory status under the Utilities Commission Act (UCA). Strategic Climate Risk Assessment for B.C.        
 
The B.C. government has released a provincial-scale climate risk assessment. The report - a first in Canada - helps government better understand and respond to current and emerging climate-related risks facing B.C. The risk assessment also supports the development of the provincial climate adaptation and preparedness strategy, scheduled for release in 2020. Read more
FireSmart Representative Training        
 
The BC FireSmart Committee, in partnership with FireSmart Canada, is offering six Local FireSmart Representative (LFR) workshops across BC for 2019/2020. Dates and locations have now been confirmed and registration is open. Read more 
Wood WORKS! BC Recognition Awards         
 
Nominations are closing soon for the 2019 Community Recognition Awards sponsored by Wood WORKS! BC. These are the 15th annual awards, and are open to any local government that has completed a community project using wood within the last three years. Read more
