As of today, sixteen missioners have committed to join the 2019 team. The two who signed on last week are Emily Taylor (Valdosta) and Sarah Brittany Sandbach (Augusta). Their names have been added to the team roster on the planning page (link here). Two other people are in the final stages of discernment about joining the team, and the team will reach its limit of 18 if they commit to join. The deadline to join the team remains January 31, 2019, or whenever the 18 slots fill up -- whichever comes first.
We have made our travel plans for our February trip to the Dominican Republic. On February 5-7 we will be at the Campamento in El Pedregal working with Padre Ramón, Leidy and Jesús to continue the planning for our June 2019 trip. On February 8-9 we will represent the Diocese of Georgia at the annual convention of the Diocese of the Dominican Republic, and on February 11 will attend a meeting of the board of directors of the Dominican Development Group, the organization that coordinates the logistical arrangements and projects for all of the Episcopal mission teams in the Dominican Republic each year. At that DDG meeting we will present a framed poster with photographs of all of those teams from 2018 to Bishop Quezada for display in his conference room. If you would like to have a preview of a first draft of that poster, click here.
¡Feliz año nuevo!
Julia and Julius
