Welcome to the 2019 Frantic Frog Sprint Triathlon!  Please review the race schedule below. Also included below are some race reminders.

We've been checking local conditions and all looks good for clear weather late in week and for Saturday. We will advise of any updates on our web & Facebook pages.  
RACE LOCATION - Goose Pond Colony Resort, 417 Ed Hembree Drive, Scottsboro, AL 35769 -  Located on the banks of the Tennessee River's beautiful Lake Guntersville and nestled into the picturesque Cumberland Mountains, Goose Pond Colony awaits your arrival. Goose Pond  Colony is a public resort that will take your breath away. With two beautiful-18 hole championship golf courses, comfortable lakeside cottages, lodge, relaxing waterfront  campground (call for availability - 256-912-0075), full service marina, meeting facilities, The Docks Restaurant, swimming pool,  beach area and Lake Guntersville, we are all you need for a relaxing vacation or one-day outing.

Note: It is recommended all athletes preview courses prior to the event(s).  Bike & run courses will be marked Thursday, Sept. 12th. Please drive the bike course & drive or ride the run course to know each thoroughly. 
We will be using the   LIVE RESULTS via  for the Goose Pond events (click link to get notifications). Your finish and splits times will be available virtually immediately to you, family & friends as times enter our scoring programs.  Please make sure you sign up for text /e-mail notifications here & share address with family and friends. 
Finishers medals will be handed out as triathletes finish.  Please see time schedule for awards ceremonies to be held at FINISH LINE.

Beverages and food will be available after the race. Rudy Project gear and other prize drawings will be made prior to and during awards ceremonies. Splits will be available on RESULT KIOSKS set up at finish line.  Go to:   for PDF results post-event. USAT ranking results will be sent within the 15-day USAT requirements.

Registration & packet pick-up at beach area. 6 PM - Race Overview and Course Review - Pick-up timing chip. DISPOSABLE TIMING STRAP ON LEFT ANKLE
Saturday, Sept. 14th - 6 AM - 7:15 AM
Registration, Packet pick-up & body marking. Pick-up timing chip. 
5:45-  Transition Open: Open racking - 6 bikes per rack
7:00 AM - Race Overview at Transition Area
7:10 AM - Bikes must be in the transition area. 
7:15 AM - Transition Closes
7:25 AM National Anthem
Swim starts begin (tentative)
7:30  Time-Trial -  each 3 seconds - one-at-a-time to allow for timing backup
Awards ceremony -  approx. 9:45 AM - at FINISH AREA - Please plan accordingly. 
9 AM -  Enjoy burgers, hot dogs, fruit and snacks just past finish line- Please make arrangements to get award if leaving early. Awards may be available at later events, not mailed.
USAT rules require this procedure. Wetsuit use will be determined race morning per USAT rules.   
Wet Suits WILL BE ALLOWED 78 DEGREES & under. Expected temp 82-84 degrees - Actual temp posted Thursday evening on ESM & race information pages.
Time -trial start for all others - Swim caps provided or your own must be worn. Keep all buoys to RIGHT - follow flagging to transition after swim.  Please make sure race number is marked on both arms for back-up timing purposes.
Relays: Relay members tag team member at bike rack. Rack with other bikes & follow same rules / routes as individual racers.
Warning:  USAT has found many injuries / fatalities to be caused by failure to WARM UP prior to start. ALL ATHLETES are urged to WARM UP either on land or in the water prior to start. Early season Open Water Swims are notorious for a good SHOCK TO YOUR SYSTEM  - Please warm up prior to start! 
NOTE:  TRANSITION FLOW - tr ansition flow will be Swim In / Run IN by WATER END & Bike Out / Run Out - at FAR END OF LOT  - FINISH will be just like Bike Dismount but further through lot to FINISH ARCH
Bike racks will be first come. Transition opens 5:45 AM for racking. 
All competitors will be going through the entire transition area. 
NO RIDING IN THE TRANSITION AREA. Bike will be mounted and dismounted at dismount signs. Six (6) bikes per rack. Both b ike course is fairly flat & open to traffic - please proceed with caution. Please review attached map links and descriptions below.
Sprint cyclists will complete the following course: Ed Hembree Rd out of Colony to R on S. Broad - follow approx. 4 miles to R on Scott, to L onto County Park (front Piggly Wiggly) & quick L back onto Broad, follow back to L onto Ed Hembree - follow back to bike dismount, PAST bike mount area - Stay to RIGHT & follow Police / volunteer directions.   Sprint Map Link  
RUN Course -  The Sprint run is completely within the Colony.  Note: Follow narrow run CONE alley at start & finish of run - bikes will be on remainder of width.  Sprint racers will turn around at mile 1.55. Aid will be located at approx. .5 mi & 1.25 mi for four passings on the 5K. Sprint Course Link
USAT Info:   ALL USAT RULES APPLY.  See web link to common USAT violations.   Remember to stay to the far right unless you are passing someone. Helmets must be ANSI approved and buckled at ALL TIMES WHILE ON THE BIKE. Link to USAT License - Complete & bring to race if not an annual member or completed during on-line registration.
