UCSF Opens ‘Skin of Color’ Dermatology Clinic to Address Disparity in Care San Francisco Chronicle | Jenna Lester , MD, may be the only black dermatologist in San Francisco. She has started a clinic that focuses on addressing the needs of patients with darker skin, from unrecognized signs of melanoma to skin and hair conditions that can look different on people of color.   Blech! The New York Times | Dena Dubal , MD, PhD, has been studying a mysterious hormone called Klotho that might offer a way both to prevent diseases of the brain and to enhance it. “If you were going into brain surgery, you’d want your neurosurgeon to be as sharp as possible,” she said. “Would it be wrong for her or him to take a shot of Klotho before your surgery?”
